I believe this is why we should encourage our children to write as often as possible. They may not be inspired every day, but as this quote attributed to Picasso implies, when inspiration strikes, they need to be writing in order to capture it.

What is your favourite book of the summer so far?
I’ve very much enjoyed ‘Shadow Thieves’ by Peter Burton.
A great Y5/6 text and for fans of Wild Boy, Ned’s Circus of Marvels, The Nowhere Emporium or Rooftoppers.
We can create a more inclusive learning environment by acknowledging and incorporating their preferred medium.
By incorporating film and animation into the curriculum, educators can stimulate discussion and inspire written expression.
As educators, it is crucial to respect and integrate this aspect of their home literacy rather than perpetuating a dichotomy that positions screens as inferior to books.
Many children enter school with a foundation in visual literacy, having been exposed to and engaged with film and animation from an early age.
In educational settings, we can build upon this existing knowledge as a foundation for further literacy development.

Starting with a character from the beginning of the dictionary - aardvark, ape, alligator- and allowing them to wander through the dictionary, meeting characters in alphabetical order, as they do in this book.
