Job advert: Research Associate in Environmental Time-Series Modelling We have just today advertised a new postdoctoral position funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures (CIEHF) that will be based in the Global Ecology Lab at Flinders University. This is a fixed-term position for up to 3 years, and we are especially targeting Indigenous candidates. The successful candidate will use existing code and develop new approaches to analyse complex data derived from lake, lagoon, river, and wetland cores measuring various aspects of dated vegetation composition, fire regime, and climate fluctuation.

Fascinating new paper out in @nature.com on the importance of Small Scale Fisheries. Lots of great information on catch, nutrition, livelihoods, etc. The #sharkscience factoid I found was that only 0.2% of the SSF catch is sharks, rays or chimaerans.

A green lawn stretches towards an old castl, three wings of the castle can be seen with multiple arched entries and at leasted 4 levels of whindows. Two large sections of the castle walls are covered with green vine with leaves or red vine with red or orange leaves.

This is the opposite side of the castle in the previous picture. Here three distinct 'towers' cant be see with two sections of building between them. This side of the case appears to only have one entrance and the sections between the towers are covered in thick green foilage with the exception of the 12 windows in each section spread over three floors.

Really nice looking postion open here at SLU Sweden: Professor (fully tenured) in conservation ecology with focus on biodiversity linked to forest management & green infrastructure.

It is also at our Alnarp campus which is...well...rather nice & even has a castle! 🧪🌎

Great study highlighting how sharks are likely learning to associate recreational fishing boats with food, increasing depredation (when sharks eat fisher's catch before they can get it on the boat).

Sharks also showed more interest in bait vs lures.
