"You cannot get educated by this self-propagating system in which people study to pass exams, and teach others to pass exams, but nobody knows anything.

You learn something by doing it yourself, by asking questions, by thinking, and by experimenting."

- Richard Feynman.

Holy shit.

This is 3I/ATLAS—the interstellar comet recently discovered passing through the Solar System.

You're looking at something that didn't start out here.

It came from another star.

And, at about 7 billion years old, it was already ancient when our Sun was born.

This new way of doing things appears to be corrosive not just to students but also to teachers. Koebler’s investigation shows that the AI lobbyists courted schools by making appeals to instructors, showing them that the likes of ChatGPT would make curriculum-building and assignment-giving that much easier. Now, teachers, too, seem to be taking the easy way out, as a recent New York Times story shows that college professors have been using chatbots to create their lesson plans, just as their students are using them to complete said lesson.

The result of all of this is so obvious that it doesn’t really bear repeating, but I guess will anyways: Everybody who uses AI is going to get exponentially stupider, and the stupider they get, the more they’ll need to use AI to be able to do stuff that they were previously able to do with their minds. The tech industry’s subscriber-based, “as-a-service” model is obviously on full display here, except that the subscription will be to intellectual capacity. The more you subscribe, the less “organic” capacity you’ll have.

This is a view from the surface of Comet 67P.

The busy particles in the foreground are cosmic rays or bits of dust and ice.

The dots moving in the background are stars.

The Pioneer 11 (1979)/Voyager 1 (1980)/Voyager 2 (1981) sequence at Saturn covered a ring plane crossing. In '79, the sun lit the south side, leaving the rings them dark. In '80, the sun had just crossed the ring plane, lighting the rings at a low angle. By '81, the north side was in full sunlight.

We need an international alliance against the US and its tech industry The United States must face consequences for economic warfare

As the United States launches an imperialist trade war against Canada and Mexico, it’s time for countries to come together to form an alliance against the US — and that includes rapidly curtailing their dependence on Silicon Valley.

The US can’t be allowed to get away with this.

There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

In this new piece we show that as the imperial core imposed structural adjustment programs on Africa, Africans were forced to consume less while their surplus resources were transferred instead out to the capitalist world economy effectively *for free*. roape.net/2025/02/28/p...

"Curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn".
