My prediction is that Andy Burnham will stand down as GM Mayor after 10 years, in April 2027, taking the mayoral bye-election away from this coming May’s polls, allowing him time to identify a successor, well before any likely dissolution of Parliament. Might still clash with deferred locals.
It’ll be interesting to see (non-party) polling of voter intentions in the Gorton constituency before and after this Burnham decision
