I'm sorry if this is just pedantic / not relevant to your larger point. But I just personally know way too many people who benefited from getting deportation cases dismissed / etc - it did matter for a lot of people

are you suggesting there actually was no change in policy between administrations? or that because it wasn't what Biden promised that it doesn't matter?

Your post above says Biden ran on "improving policies to help refugees and immigrants." It's pretty incontrovertible that Biden definitely did improve policies! They were so bad under Trump. They're less bad now.

Policies for refugees improved dramatically (there were actual refugee admissions!) and for existing immigrants (lots of tweaks at USCIS, prosecutorial discretion in court) tho the border stuff was almost entirely bad.
