Yeah I definitely don't know the laws/policies as much as @charlieweingartner.bsky.social & others but I'm pretty sure putting a bench in the grass where there's no sidewalk is not doing any harm or breaking any ADA rules!

Yes, the benches were liberated via my truck yesterday morning!!

But even more importantly, after seeing a bench rescue picture from today, Elizabeth has named @jspencersharpe.bsky.social , @themanaen.bsky.social and I "bald, beard and beanie" πππ
This is NOT someone they want activated.
benches goa
Many are like this one I replaced today at Shelby Ave & S 8th Street. There are no ADA or ped facilities whatsoever. Thus, there is no ADA violation by placing it here.
Please also note the desire path trodden down at this stop by our fellow community members.
All the best.

Iβd like to respond to the boilerplate NDOT response circulating to CMs and the public regarding benches put in the right of way:
Those whoβve put out benches have been incredibly judicious and caring about violating ROW and ADA concerns.
1/2
We have painstakingly placed our benches in the most considerate of ways. If you don't think we are always concerned w/ blocking walkways, wheelchair access, etc, then you don't know us. This is THE highest priority of every single bench we've placed. Suggestions to the contrary are insulting.
There's also so many people I can fit in the truck... if I was a real one I'd have stolen a bus first to get the benches back and brought everyone along.
NDOT removed the benches because ALLEGEDLY they were in the ROW but they're working to permit our benches in the ROW. Make it make sense.
Happy to report the benches were all rescued in an operation conducted this morning. They are in a secure location, ready for their imminent return to the streets & the people of Nashville.
Hi Ahmed, I just gave what I could ππΌβ€οΈ
We WILL repeat this mission for our 17 benches currently being held hostage.
FREE OUR BENCHES
This is so shitty. Nashville is a corporate free-for-all. Whataburger is allowed to block sidewalks, that horrific stadium practically blocks the sun, a bunch of bar owners can blow up the library BUT NASHVILLE WILL NOT TOLERATE CITIZENS HELPING EACH OTHER. βMusic Cityβ my ass π€‘
7.14 benches coming right up! Thank you Jason ππΌ it was so disheartening and infuriating to see our beautiful benches like that π but we will not be deterred!
There is only one way this ends.
Mayor to people who campaigned for him because they wanted to stay and who are simply trying to create community and public safety in this increasingly technofascist city where only the ultra-wealthy are comfortable: drop dead
and yet
we will never stop multiplying.
the unforced PR nightmares this city's leadership CHOOSES is truly astonishing.
GIVE US OUR DAMN BENCHES BACK!!!
βοΈβοΈThe bench building will continue until conditions improve βοΈβοΈ
good to know, thanks!
Interestingly, your account is completely different from what advocates who helped create the winter storm docket in conjunction with Judge Hayes as well as court watchers have seen AND what other landlord attorneys are saying about McCoy's participation. Curious what your involvement in this is?
McCoy doesn't go to eviction court-she runs an eviction factory & has for years & she certainly doesn't go herself. In fact, another landlord attorney with high numbers of eviction cases said he hasn't seen her in court since 2021. I'm sure others will have more to add but wanted to correct that.
Thanks DJ!
I guess $250 is his price to sleep at night π pathetic
For your first act as commissioner, get rid of the waymos!!!
jk I don't know how any of this works but that would be cool & make us all safer π
Phone calls you can make to advocate & encourage our elected officials to advocate for Estefany here:
They are coming for people no matter their legal status! No one is safe. If you have a business that would like a free training on the 4th Amendment, please reach out. You might not think it's an issue for your workplace yet, but donβt wait until ICE is inside to find out you weren't prepared.
ICE is moving people faster & faster. In October, a friend was taken from his home. By the afternoon, he was in Putnam County. They said he'd be there for a couple days. Next day, we rushed there to get him paperwork for legal rep but he was already on his way to Knox Co & in Louisiana the next day.
