Thanks! ACD is the head-scratcher to me too. Perhaps his susceptibility to the supernatural is one reason for his famous dissatisfaction with the arch-anti-spiritualist Holmes. GKC and DLS are explicitly concerned with the soul, while excluding the supernatural in their plot machinery.

One caveat: We need to be very careful how we talk about personhood. Big Tech CANNOT make you a non-person. Many people for various reasons cannot create or communicate. They are still persons with inherent dignity. What Big Tech wants is for us to forget that inherent dignity.

Everyone should get a library card if you don't already have one! It's more important than ever to support public libraries. This is an extension that tells you if the book you are looking up on Amazon or Goodreads is in your library (and if it is available).
Here's one reason: The expansion of audiobook sales has been GREAT for authors. It's opened up sales to a whole new class of people *who weren't reading us before.* Audio is now easily 30%+ of my income WITHOUT cutting into print/ebook sales. Let people read in every format. It's helping authors.
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.
