Attended an informative AGRA lunchtime lecture about Irish family history research. A very useful refresher about Irish research for both work & my one-place study.

Old documents in a box with seals

Old documents in a box with seals

Stocktaking time at Cambridgeshire Archives. I'm not sure how much help I was whenever I found fascinating items to squeal at, like these documents with seals still attached and an old pre-Beck London underground map! #genealogy #archives

The band is tuning up so the music can start. A gem from St Mary's Church, Beverley to start the day. The most north easterly column in the nave is home to the its famous Minstrels’ Pillar where there are five colourful figures of musicians.

Thanks to the 1,600 people and organisations who responded to the UK Ministry of Justice’s proposals on the retention of wills. Good news: The UK Government has determined not to proceed with any reforms that involve the destruction of original wills

Great webinar, caught up with it today. Very helpful Zooniverse tutorial for transcribers. Excellent to learn more about your research aims. Through this project, 25,000 transcribed wills from TNA, dated c.1540-1790, will ultimately be available to everyone online!

Great project! Learn how some of the findings in MH 12 can be accessed online, without the need to visit TNA

Well done Lisa! Volunteering at local archives is a great way for professionals to expand their knowledge and often leads to new client commissions πŸ˜€

If you're a #skystorian who works on digitised archival material - and pretty much all of us do - you should read this new article on #EarlyModern wills by Harry Smith @bhamhistory.bsky.social and Emily Vine @emilymayvine.bsky.social, #OpenAccess in the TRHS πŸ—ƒοΈ: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Chancery, Chancery, Chancery! If the records for this wonderful source seem daunting, my guide book can help. The more people who enjoy the wonderful personal detail to be found in these records at the UK National Archives the better
