I’ll go first… It was mid pandemic and things were pretty dark. It was around the holidays and I wasn’t going to be able to see my family. Mid-session, a stranger fell out of the closet from behind my therapist and landed between us. She casually shooed them out, then asked me how it made me feel. 😵💫

I tried to be there for her to lean on and as a sounding board and voice of reason. She navigated some difficult times but managed to stay true to herself. She eventually went on to her dream fellowship and is now starting her first attending job. If residency feels hard, it’s because it IS hard.

I met N when I was still a resident and she was a med student. I took her under my wing and we became friends. She watched me traverse the difficult path of residency, into fellowship, and then into my first attending job. She then matched into her own residency, a notoriously difficult one.
