Group hike on the Point Buchon Trail at Montana de Oro State Park.

Saw cows, quail, heron, coyotes, and even spotted some wale spouts out on the ocean.

Also got views of blooming poppies and the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.

Jumping on that viral "CEO's sampling their own products" trend by printing out my most rejected short story and eating it on camera.

Re-watching Chernobyl and finding it oddly comforting…

Joined some nice folks from Sierra Club of San Luis Obispo for my first 10 mile hike on the Duna Vista trail at Lopez Lake.

It was a long, hot hike, but the wildflowers were blooming and we found a spot with a killer view for lunch.

Attended a fantastic opera/piano performance tonight.

After all, man cannot live on Motörhead alone.

Been looking for a show to watch obsessively, and The Thick of it is definitely my jam.

They say a good deed is its own reward.
But who could guess that simply giving a stranger a lift to the bus terminal could take you--and your beat up old car--to the most amazing places?

Monolith is a wildly cool and intense psychological horror movie.

I chose it at random and was blown away by how great it was. Lily Sullivan sells the weirdness, paranoia, and dread in an unnervingly convincing way.

I’ve got a new horror book, good bourbon, and the day off tomorrow.

A cup of coffee and a copy of Poppy Z Bright, short story collection, warm wood in paperback sitting on a coffee table.

Just finished Poppy Z Brite’s Wormwood and this collection absolutely lived up to and exceeded my expectations.

These are dark, wonderfully nasty little stories beautifully written. “Calcutta Lord of Nerves”, “Xenophobia”, and “His Mouth Will Taste of Wormwood” are my personal favorites.

Excited to do my first presentation, Q&A, and book signing next month for a local writer's group I'm a part of.

My ultimate goal is an uncle, I’ve realized, is to be the kind of uncle who leaves his nephews a haunted castle that they can inherit, but only if they spend one night in it.

Bunch of typos in this post, of course. What I meant to say is that it combines genres like horror and fantasy and even elements of detective fiction. That’s what I get for posting via speech to text.

I listened to an audiobook version of this, and it was really good. It’s a great story that combines horror fantasy elements of detective fiction in a really cool way.

Definitely grab this book if you can.
