Same pattern in UK polling. YouGov's last big poll on trans issues also indexed respondents' views on other social prejudices, and what do you know - pro-trans respondents were much more likely to recognise misogyny and see it as a problem, anti-trans respondents more likely to dismiss it!

I have an A-196 and find no end of weird uses for it! Tons of fun seeing if modules can track each other, or demodulating FM... will have to check out the structure of the synchrodyne and see if I can recreate it ๐ค

Reddit screenshot from Glasgow thread. Bright flames rising out the side of a Victorian building.
Video screenshot from Reddit. Building is now a shell with flames visible in every window.
The roof has collapsed embers rise into the night sky.
The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.
I am amazed by the limited news coverage.

Clipping from a BuzzFeed article. There is a tweet, reading "Treating this war like a video game just days after a U.S. strike likely killed more than 100 school girls takes a special kind of callousness."
Above, the tweet is quoted, however "an alleged" is added before "US strike", presumably to avoid BuzzFeed from taking legal risks in accusing the US military of anything directly.
Journalists hedging their bets even when quoting directly from material that is RIGHT THERE

Ooh, it's nice to come across something labelled "experimental" that does really feel experimental without being noise, not that there's anything wrong with a good bit of noise.

The article explicitly talks about the Tory approach being the reason for the decline, they critique Starmer specifically for not making a bigger deal out of it. Seems a fair criticism to me?

When you consider that these groups might not all overlap perfectly it makes sense that the overall approval for the approach is lower than on any one specific issue. 2/2

Looks like you're taking that 46% specifically from the overall military strategy (defensive only), whereas there is much more disagreement between people and the government on literally all the other issues here. 50% are against use of missile bases, 21% want a condemnation of US/Israeli actions 1/

Of course the majority of those who claim to be motivated by religious fervour are in fact motivated by a simple desire for power... I'm sure this is not new.
Amar Bharati is keeping it going, though. Fanatics take note - this is the way, not misreading your texts to make it homophobic.

The religious fanatics of today are so uninteresting. Where is the obsession and drive to wild acts of dedication? Where are the Simeon the Stylites, willing to spend 36 standing on a pole? Flagellants beating themselves for everyone else's sake? Sokushinbutsu mummifying themselves alive?

Starmer must withdraw permission for the US to use UK bases to launch airstrikes on Iran and parliament must be given a vote on any UK involvement.

Reform of the electoral system will not be trivial, it's a complex topic to tackle and it needs to happen well in advance of the next GE to be in place.
Labour must act now, remember their weaknesses, and start the process of electoral reform before it's too late. 4/4

In Gorton & Denton, nearly 60% of voters did not vote for Hannah Spencer. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted she won, but that is still a terrible victory for any kind of democracy. 3/

Labour will suffer huge losses at the next election, most likely. Proportional representation will benefit them, despite a single FPTP victory in recent years. No one truly wins under FPTP, ever more so as the political landscape becomes more fractured... 2/

Which UK political parties support proportional representation?
The results of the 2024 election are just the latest indicator of our broken electoral system, with a troubling mismatch between votes and seats, and a staggering 57.8% voters left unrep
All the major UK political parties support electoral reform... Except the two that have had success through FPTP. Even Labour did during their losing streak, though they seem to have got shy since their win.
They need to realise their mistake. 1/

The Greens nabbed a comfortable by-election win in Gorton & Denton (south Manchester), previously a safe labour seat. The polls looked like a tight three way race between Green/Reform/Labour, but the Greens managed a 40% win.
