Deeply ironic that Adelaide's bid for COP31 has a good chance of exclusion-zoning a heap of their rail public transport.
This is hot on the heels of SA Labor locking in parking minimums!
There's gotta be something in the water...

Going to be rather enjoyable seeing the reactions of those parents supporting the ban of social media for under 16s, discovering that means they now have to prove to YouTube, FB, etc that they are over 16.
"I thought this was just about the kids, I'm over 16, why do I need to provide ID???!!!!!"

Yeah it'd be really interesting (and perhaps better aligned to how we do "xyz artist was robbed" if they summed votes by artist, and then picked the top song for each artist.

A good way to think about the housing crisis is landlords pocketing essentially all the consumer surplus the last 40 years

Anti-preferencers still being seen whinging about Labor getting 62.7% of seats off 34.6% of primary votes when under the system they support UK Labour 2024 got 63.2% of seats off 33.7% of votes.

The Portland area transit service expansion plan that we worked on had just two goals: ridership and equity.
Here are some of the payoffs: New service in lower-income inner-ring suburbs, including a new Frequent line and a new line that has a chance to be Frequent someday. But there's more 𧡠1/

Because by occupying one of the 6 traffic lanes for a period of about half an hour, "people's right to freedom of movement would be excessively interfered with".
So people's right to freedom of movement being completely denied for months without end is fine, but impeding a few cars is a problem.

In that case -
Portland or Mt Gambier (if it's not too big already) can anchor MEL-ADL HSR
Sale or Bairnsdale should have better water prospects and are also not *too* bad climate wise

Yeah that seems safe enough - it'd take both a huge 2PP correction to break from 3L 3R and also enough GRN-ALP...

Never thought I'd see this - and it will likely change with more prepoll and postal - but LNP are below two quotas in Qld right now.
(PHON + Rennick + Trumpet β 1 Q)
So in terms of results it's a 2-2-1-1 like last time, but I have no idea who'll come unlucky 7th

I think we really have to wait for the early & postal votes on this one before celebrating too hard. We've been seeing early/Eday differences for a long time and there's more early voting than ever...

I think the most effective intervention would be to tilt the scales against negative campaigning, just a bit.
My proposal is that if you mention a different disclosure entity (by name/logo/likeness) then your own name/logo/likeness must be at least as prominent.

Electoral donations?
(Though that one is content neutral; you could receive the same tax deduction for a donation to an anti racist party.)

The nice thing about LNH is that it supports giving a full ranking

Renters Election 2025
We can make 2025 the Renters' Election. Take the Renter Pledge and commit to use your vote to fix renting.
Renters can be a powerful voting bloc this election - if we're organised! Shoutout to @betterrenting.bsky.social who are coordinating renters to use our collective power to push the government to fix renting. I've taken the Renter Pledge and if you're a renter, you should too!

If an MP were to spend every waking moment meeting voters, that works out to about 8 minutes 45 seconds per voter over a 3 year term.

Election entrΓ©e: Electorates are bigger than ever
In the 2025 Australian election there will be about 120,000 registered voters per elected MP.
Have you met your local member this election campaign - or ever?
@australiainstitute.org.au fellow Skye Predavec shows in 1903, a single MP represented 25,000 voters. Now it's 120,000. Any surprise most Aussies have never met their local member? australiainstitute.org.au/post/electio...

Numerous minor parties: *Have brought this policy to elections for roughly the past decade.*
Itβd be wonderful if the media here stopped pretending weβre a two party system. #auspol
