Doctor Who Animation: Daleks' Master Plan - The Nightmare Begins. Part 1
Doctor Who Animation: Daleks' Master Plan - The Nightmare Begins. Part 1 YouTube video by JanjyGiggins

They found The Nightmare Begins!!! Why not whet your appetite by watching the animation I wasted 3 years of my life on!*

*Not really - I had a great time and learned a lot. And it was never intended to be a recreation of the episode; rather, my interpretation.

No Maps On My Taps, Two Minutes Later, Doctor Who: Enlightenment, Man on the Run

Two great documentaries. Maps... was especially great. I didn't care for Two Minutes Later. Enlightenment is the only Doctor Who from the classic series both written and directed by women. It's the one about the sailing ship race in space. #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday

I'm struggling to explain to non-fans how 'they found two missing episodes' feels. I think it might genuinely be a whole human emotion only accessible to Dr Who fans, like we're deep sea fish who can smell magnets.

There are some fan experiences reserved pretty much uniquely for Dr Who fans. The return of missing episodes is probably the pinnacle of those.

This is the story of 3 women connected by an abuser. The man suffuses the novel, but it's ultimately about the women as they attempt to move on from trauma. A shift of voice in the last third that helps make what are unsolvable questions more narratively satisfying.

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

I liked the first two books in this series. This one didn't work quite as well for me. I'm not sure I entirely bought the characters, their actions or motivations. But Attica Locke is talented writer. I'll stick with her wherever she goes next.

T&T&T starts as a sweet friendship story between two kids who want to make video games but midway through I realized that a cycle of hooking up or falling out was about the only move it had. It's all very readable, but repetitious.

I think if I'd gotten away with attempting a coup, suffered no consequences for it, then won an election four years later, got away with executing citizens in the streets and foreigners in boats, and successfully abducted a head of state, I too might think I could just bomb my way to regime change

Two horrible fuck-ups spend there days getting drunk and dreaming of ways get the things they want. Paradais is written in a tumbling, almost stream of consciousness style that gets into our main character's head. I think you would call this "visceral."

One of my favorite types of novel are ones where the plot is driven by characters making incorrect assumptions about each other. There are a half a dozen characters here, all of whom think they understand something and act on that to tragic ends. Thumbs up.

This short-ish video gives some idea about how this year's Barkley went down. I'm curious about the start gate being moved and what runners thought about the loop sequence this year, but there's anything about either in this video. I'd guess there are a few other videos coming.
