Yes total collapse.
Helpful RCJ staff saved the day. Hope the High Court and appellate judges can continue to defend their patch and staff their fiefdom properly. But please spread a little bit of the resources to the county courts to keep the wheels turning.
Divorce and Dissolutions firmly advised it was not their patch to answer where to issue.
Nor could Central County Court phone line answer.
County courts cannot be contacted by phone and CLCC replied on autopilot saying that email enquiries were taking 8 weeks to process. A dismal state of affairs
It should not be so difficult for a low paid worker to find out where to make a claim. She finally got the right address after spending ยฃ250 on ineffective legal advice on this question and eventually finding competent court staff at the RCJ who knew the answer which is what she needed all along.
Client paid ยฃ250 to consult a fee paid solicitor to seek the answer and got a wrong one. They said go to the RCJ and issue in the High Court. RCJ - still staffed by human beings who try to make the system work said No Go to High Holborn CC so client did. Happily this was the right place.
Aye it is family functions. So the court finder does not find it.
The courts don't answer phones and take 8 weeks to answer an email. Divorce and Dissolution service refuse to tell client where to issue an application. Client paid ยฃ250 to consult a fee paid solicitor to seek the answer.
Good to know. But 3 hours of my time and 6 hours of my client's did not manage to find it. The Divorce and Dissolution Service could not advise where, not could the cheapie divorce me quick online fee paid service which client, a cleaner had paid for, advise where to issue.
Please post the link :)
Really useful link - which I will bookmark for future reference. I think we got to the correct cause of action and your article would have saved some research time. But could we find where a person living in particular part of London should actually issue her claim. No.
No phone line, internet service or email service which can advise her which county court to issue in. Make your best guess and if that court rejects it hopefully they will say where you should go instead. What a state.
8 weeks for a litigant in person - to get a call back so that she can pay a court fee to issue an application to transfer a council tenancy from joint names of her and her divorced husband to sole. No online way of making payment.
The hard right's band of merry keyboard warriors won't get any help from the oligarchs fueling their bile. Even if the oligarchs seem prepared to piss legal costs budgets into the wind defending themselves, the band of supporters they have inflamed are left to defend themselves alone.

Your role has always been to inform educate and give some informed legal opinion on the law. They don't engage in reality. Let's see how they fare when they sue or are sued from a position of their own ignorance of the law and denial of reality.
Could you include me in a forthcoming edition?
Thanks
