On our final evening, we were treated to a spellbinding performance of Sophocles's Electra, directed by tutors Polly Caffrey, Clive Letchford and Alex Carroll
On Thursday, we heard a wonderful concert from our summer school students, organised by tutors Krishnan Ram-Prasad and Annabel Williams. And then Judith Mossman told us all about the Electra, ready for Friday night
Wednesday night saw a fascinating introduction to ancient medicine from Sarah Smart. Plus props making again, for the Friday night performance of Sophocles's Electra
On Tuesday, we heard about oratory from Guy Westwood
On Monday night, course director David Langslow told us about Proto-Indo-European
And Sunday saw a triumphant performance of Aristophanes's Wasps, directed by tutor Alastair Harden
No lecture on Saturday -- instead, our student party plus bonus ancient Greek karaoke!
On Friday, Costas Panayotakis gave us the lowdown on our Sunday-night play, Aristophanes's Wasps
And on Thursday, Armand d'Angour told us about Socrates in love
On Wednesday, we heard from Christopher Burden-Strevens about Greek historian's representations of Augustus. Plus Philomena Probert and Eleanor Dickey led our annual walk to the Iron Age fort at Hod Hill, and our students and tutors got creative in the props room for Sunday's performance of Wasps
On Tuesday, our lecture was from the legendary John Taylor, about Pausanias
Our management committee is meeting today to get cracking with plans for the 2025 summer school!
Our evening lecture tonight was from Adrian Kelly on Odysseus as epic hero
And we're off! Last night our director, David Langslow, welcomed our students, and today is a gorgeous day for some Greek! Lots of other things going on too, so check out the notice board under the dome!
