I keep a running list of alter ideas on my phone. Some are clear visions; others vague concepts. ‘Wolverine meme’ was on it for at least a year before I worked out how to pull it off.

The movie still I referenced for this piece was fairly low contrast so I was especially intentional in paying close attention to value while building up the underpainting. The little pinpricks of light become really effective in making the form seem three dimensional and wet.

I love answering questions, and I think on the whole we shouldn’t be afraid to ask them. But the inability to seek out answers on one’s own is an epidemic in our current society.
