I’m tired of Doug Ford playing with Toronto as if it were a game of SimCity 3000.

Really enjoying the typo for Furey. Now that would create an interesting race. (Spacing ran a parody Mayor Squirrel account several elections ago but a Furry would be something else).

β€˜I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI As AI has upended the way students learn, academics worry about the future of the humanities - and society at large

I'm one of many professors quoted in this report from Alice Speri. I really appreciate The Guardian taking an angle which has basically eluded every other major outlet.

YES. In the same sentence he said the war was complete, he proposed a policy that would vastly enlarge the war! Media reported the first half, and then later reported a different part to make it seem like a change! But it was incoherent, nonsensical slop all along.

This, too, is sanewashing!

Vast majority of Canadians want Andrew removed from royal line of succession Angus Reid poll also found that only 29% of Canadians want a long-lasting constitutional monarchy, while almost half are against the idea.

Once again noting that Canadian legal precedent is that the Canadian Parliament can remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession to the Canadian Crown via normal legislation *separately and distinct from any UK legislation*. nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

Woke up in the dark again this morning.
If we do Daylight Savings (which I don't mind) it should be for just 6 months of the year like it used to be, not 8 like it is now. Only switch when dawn at like 5 am.

The closing of the Gulf of Hormuz, and Ukraine's campaign blowing up Russia's very flammable oil storage, might remind nations how vulnerable it is to rely on fossil fuels and encourage the energy transition to renewables?

I agree with the conclusion, but for most of history most people who went to university did so to become priests, lawyers, or doctors. Immersion in humanities was originally in opposition to universities, and long subordinate in them until relatively recently.
