Today 128 guards in Dublin and Waterford will be armed with tasers - a fundamental shift in Irish policing without any public consultation.
ICCL is deeply concerned at the speed with which tasers have been introduced and An Garda's approach to "piloting" new tech.

Sure you can. Thanks for asking.

This image is of the results of a poll carried out for Uplift by Ireland thinks. It shows that the majority of voters across all parties want our current policy on neutrality maintained. If you have a screen reader or other you can read the results and analysis of the whole poll at this link: https://www.uplift.ie/neutrality-files/ basically these results show that FG voters are 62 per cent in favour of retaining our neutrality ranging up to 99 per cent of PBP voters
Uplift and Ireland Thinks did the research on it recently so there's actually not any excuse for them not knowing this is the case:
#Γras25 The Irish Times Oct 29. 2025 Election commentary Sir. - Much of the commentary on the presidential election has focused on trving to interpret the meaning be- hind spoiled votes, and what they sug- gest about the gap between parts of the electorate and our political class. Catherine Connolly's victory, how- ever, points to an overlooked gap-the one between voters and much of the prevailing media consensus. More than 900,000 people - the largest number ever to support a presidential candidate - voted for her despite weeks of coverage often portraying her views on neutrality, Nato, Pales- tine, and prisoner rehabilitation as na- ive. riskv or dangerous Taken together. these results sug- gest a public that feels misread from the political and media spheres. Un- less those gaps are honestly examined as a whole, politicians and iournalists may risk continuing to speak to each other in circles. - Yours, etc. LORCAN MYLES, Drogheda, Co Louth.

'For as long as Palestinians get up each morning and face the unimaginable each day in Gaza, we have a duty to ensure that this story does not end with their erasure, but with their liberation.'
@dondeniamh.bsky.social - there is no peace without justice.

This murdering shower of fuckers. And they wonder why people distrust politicians. Because they are lying gaslighting racist genocide apologists. That's my reason anyway.
You should be in the Hauge answering charges of aiding a genocide against Palestinians you can't even bring yourself to mention them even now as they count the human cost and losses from a genocidal onslaught by Israel.
I'm from Galway and will be voting for Catherine Connolly in #Γ‘ras25 I campaigned with her *against* the Lisbon treaty & for Marriage Equality & Repeal, I was there the day she lost a dail seat by 17 votes after which she brought us all out for breakfast and apologised for letting us down!
of course. Let me reword that !
Not remotely, Ray, I call that democracy, anyone can contest any seat. It's a bit of a weird question isn't it? However it is one of the factors of supporting an independent TD, there may be no obvious successor or party candidate ready to slot into the vacancy.
When #Γ‘ras25 is over and certain parties are doing postmortems, the fact that Catherine Connolly did so many one-on-one podcast interviews and the other candidates didn't must be part of the conversation.
People don't get to know candidates in debates.
Aside from anything else I think this election will show us how badly legacy media's influence has deteriorated. The IT, Indo and now Newstalk are throwing everything at Connolly but nothing has gotten the same traction as a short-form video of her playing ball with some kids. #SpeirGorm #Γ‘ras25

My sincere thanks to everyone who has supported the Global Sumud Flotilla. I'm home safe & will be followed by the other Irish people today. I'm just catching up and have much more to share but for now I am so so grateful for everyone's attempts to free us. Remember that Gaza is the story not us.
Home safe Joe! Thanks for watching out
The #GlobalSumudFlotilla on its way to Gaza is an incredible sight. Hopeful, inspiring and terrifying for what might come in equal measure. Israel has killed people on similar flotilla in international waters before. The Spectre is @sarahmaintains.bsky.social and Chris Andrews' boat. Amazing people.

Our friend, poet and activist Sarah Clancy, is on the Spectre, one of the boats on the Flotilla which was attacked last night. Contact the Taoiseach and TΓ‘naiste to demand protection, there must be safe passage for all trying to break apartheid Israel's illegal siege of Gaza. #LiftTheSiege
