I tried, but I really couldn't connect with Demy's "normal dialogue in a sing-songy voice" brand of musical.
worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

I watched Shin Ultraman! It's Japanese baby boomer nostalgia, but it's tokusatsu silliness, so it's hard not have a good time.

And, in fact, the first United States airing of Voyage of Melonia I could find my my TV listing archives was a Disney Channel broadcast on January 19th, 1994.
Not quite true, back in their premium cable days the Disney Channel had a decent amount of acquisitions to fill in time, like Care Bears and Pound Puppies reruns, and they did bring in non-Disney foreign films.

Just watched a Youtuber do an ad read for one of those meal delivery services in the middle of their "I'm struggling with mental illness and a death in the family" video, and that's weird, right? That's a weird thing to do?
(Helps that, even with the Disney acquisition, Doug had, like, 10% of the behind-the-scenes drama Rugrats or Ren & Stimpy had)
I don't have a timeline, because I'm always wrong and it takes longer than I think BUT, the Doug script is coming along pretty well I think.
