A lot of iPad doomers in this thread. If you use an iPad for anything that it's actually good at, the Neo, or ANY laptop, is not even remotely a plausible alternative.

I love NYC, but growing up adjacent to it I was slowly, drip by drip, exposed to just how horrible the 'elites' were. You don't get into the NYC elite without knifing someone in the back and you don't stay there without firmly placing your boot on someone's throat.

Baby cholla rudely clinging to my leg

Baby cholla rudely clinging to my leg

Cholla drops fully formed mini chollas as a means of propagation.

Yesterday I stopped to clear the trail of about a dozen of these baby cholla when the small stick I was using to 're-home' them broke and rather than fling the baby into the brush, it flung it into my leg and left hand. Happy times.

Last night I was down a rabbit hole of why fish can't exist deeper than around 8000 meters and I realized that the deepest a fish has ever gone in the ocean and survived was in a submersible. The fish were people. All vertebrates are fish.

I hope this helps with ~~the horrors~~

Libertarianism and Communism both look good on paper but never survive contact with reality.

rubio’s invocation of β€œwestern civilization” β€” defined here as racial and religious chauvinism, if not outright supremacy β€” is a rejection of the more egalitarian and universalistic notions that came out of america’s two revolutions.

I believe that there are characteristics of structural change and AI, as yet, does not have them.

I also believe that refusal opens up smart people to conceive of what *is* happening and not what capital *wants* to happen.

And though they still creep me out a little after all these years, it's funny when I see two or three of them just chilling at the local park.

Are they having a little smoke break, or planning the robot apocalypse?

I've lived with these things for years now (pretty sure my neighborhood was the first testing ground) and though I've grown to trust them (they are very predictable now), my soul screamed a little at the idea of them taking over or replacing school buses!
