NB: fossil fuels kill way, way more birds and harm more marine life than wind (or hydroelectric, etc.) - this is an important point. However, more research and better practices to mitigate the harm that is done are very welcome and necessary too.

Wouldn't it be kinda funny if we all just collectively decided that the right response to this was urgently building and installing way more of those "windmills" he hates to cover energy demands, economies and environment would thank us also

So yeah, further increases to cost of living for average people & global economies taking yet another hit - no wonder he doesn't care, or rather gleefully revels in it. As long as he & his mates are still making bank, & feeling powerful. Pleased Lib Dems are still speaking up, hope Starmer listens.

There is a duty to protect the lives of those living near our bases, & our allies in the Middle East where possible - whilst also hopefully minimising casulties in Iran, particularly civilians - already here though, Trump, Hegseth & co. have shown complete disregard for human life.

Also, if it was already won, why is it still going on - utilising British bases, with US bombers arriving in Glouestershire before continuing on to the region, several drones/missiles aimed at Qatar etc. intercepted (inc. one shot down by an RAF pilot), several planes & helicopters sent to allies.

Literally just reading the latest updates, which included his quote about joining wars already "won", and thinking - well, if you could "win" without us, wasn't Starmer correct to avoid further escalation & protect the interests of the British people by not participating unnecessarily?

This is actually a bloody good point.

Not exactly helped by the fact the media tends to ignore us, and platformed Farage when he was literally nobody. Sensible, pragmatic policies unfortunately don't generate clicks, clearly. I'm still confident we'll win more people over.

Deeply shocked by the reports of an incident at Manchester Central Mosque last night. My thoughts are with the whole Muslim community in the holy month of Ramadan

Thank you to all whose swift action stopped tragedy. We must stand united against Islamophobia and all forms of hate

If Reform win due to enough people being misled by this leaflet then there is no debate that the Labour β€œcountry of strangers” party prefers the far right to the progressive left

This immediately made me think of Crayford, SE London/Kent, where an old church that would have otherwise been derilect became a mosque. Look, I don't love any religion, but I can see that it is better that a community centre of sorts is created over having a void in the middle of the high street?

Yep, receiving treatment is down to privilege or total luck of the draw. I represent a number of students as a cllr who have contacted me because their GPs won't accept shared care agreements, we've tried to do what I can. They're so desperate, it's their futures at stake & it's harrowing :(

β€˜Handmaid’s Tale future’: Reform’s Matt Goodwin sparks outcry with fertility comments Byelection candidate accused of indulging β€˜alt right fantasy’ by suggesting women need β€˜biological reality’ check

Does this dickhead need to be told humans aren't capable of parthenogenesis (yet - perhaps that's something we could engineer, if if meant fewer like him ;)? Why do women entirely bear responsibility, punitive action even? Does he need the birds and bees, bless... www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Anyway, call them out, every time they try to pull something dodgy. They got away with it during the referendum, we've seen some questionable conduct locally - whether deliberate or just sloppy, call it out. Because they will cut corners, cheat, lie - MAGA-lite, but also they've always been like it

Exclusive: Reform UK just broke electoral law in Gorton and Denton People across the constituency thought they were getting a letter from a concerned pensioner, they didn’t know she was working for Reform

TLDR they "forgot" the imprint, which absolutely can happen by mistake, but doesn't make it any less illegal or unimportant - I remember having the tedious job of handwriting it on a batch after it was missed. But combined with the style of letter? Feels shady. manchestermill.co.uk/exclusive-re...

Pleased she was able to see some significant progress made before she passed away, much of that in recent years. But remember, it is not necessarily secure - wealthy US-backed campaigners are at work, we cannot back down.
But anyway - rest in peace to a legend. We owe people like her so much.

Starmer, Badenoch and McSweeney: Who are the winners and losers of the Mandelson-Epstein scandal? For Sir Keir Starmer and the soon-to-be ex-peer, the fallout may be about to get even worse, as Mr Mandelson faces a full-blown police inquiry while the prime minister's torment is set to resume on We...

McSweeney is not only a "convenient scapegoat" and "pantomime villain", he's absolutely partially responsible, and looking at all the various policy and PR blunders, also not very good at his job. As much as it disgusts me to agree with Tories, they're not wrong here.

I doubt many other people remember the 2015 Channel 4 drama Coalition, but I have probably watched it an embrassing 3 or 4 times. A highlight was Mark Gatiss' portrayal of Peter Mandelson, he's brilliantly creepy & slimy. Always assumed it was a bit OTT compared to the real guy though, but alas...

On the other side of the pond so may not have heard it all, but I see a guy who is spent. I can understand why Walz might have capitulated early to some things, in hope that they would not escalate to this. Politics is full of horrible compromises, gambles. But you cannot negotiate with fascists.

Highly recommend, incredible that all this was achieved in just a few days, even for such a legendary artist. Brilliant song and incredibly important subject matter.

The United Kingdom is at its best when we’re true to our values: tolerance, decency, respect for individual freedom and the rule of law.

We can't let Nigel Farage throw that all away by turning Britain into Trump’s America.

Choose a brighter future with the Liberal Democrats.

Say no to Palantir in the NHS NHS England is rolling out software to run our health records from Palantir - fight back

Palantir and its key personnel are about the closest I've seen to proper comic book villains in real life. They're open about their views & the role their product plays in making their horrible vision reality. Let's not support them (& risk our data)?

Another chilling shooting by a federal agent in Minneapolis, this time of a nurse. My heart goes out to Alex Pretti's family.

We cannot let Nigel Farage and Reform import Trump’s dark politics to the UK.

I don't believe in hell; sometimes I wish there were one, so some could burn in it. Alex Pretti and Renee Good were innocent people, trying to help or just get away, they leave behind loved ones who must now listen to barefaced, malicious lies from those claiming to protect them. It's just beyond.

Not sure I'll ever quite forgive those who derailed what were actually useful conversations about VAWG, only in the wake of awful things, but we were getting somewhere; for snatching all the oxygen away from worthy causes like this. Never any evidence whatsoever that inclusive spaces posed a risk.
