The four horsemen of the beercopalypse. ABV from left to right: 8.2%, 9.5%, 12%, 17%. To quote from Ben Franklin's Drunken Dictionary, I'd say I've "kiss'd black Betty". Or to turn a bad pun, I'm rather "stouthearted" at the moment.

Long public service thread but worth the time to read (not politics or war related...I swear). One of my nerdy interests is resilience and risk stuff. It's also my profession πŸ™‚.

This picture below is of the only street leading into my neighborhood, a single point of failure as we say in the resilience world. It's also a great example of how interconnected and dependent everything and everyone is with other people, things, and systems, so much so that a minor disruption has far-ranging cascading impacts, even when we have many degrees of separation from the original event. Well, I'd be remiss not to use this opportunity to share some thoughts, and as you all know, I always have thoughts...

How prepared are you and your family for a disruption that effects your quality of life? It's of course impossible to plan for every scenario, nor is it healthy to live in a constant state of anxiety about our chaotic world. Thankfully, we can take prudent steps to be ready for life disruptions and ease our troubled minds. My counsel is simple.

1. Start with mindset, this is vital: be curious and aware, not alarmed; be safe...we need all of you, so please come home sound and whole; take care of your people and your community; don't neglect to care for yourself; be responsible and have fun!

2. Think in terms of effects and contingencies, not just causes. A few examples:
- "What do I do if we have to shelter in place for an extended time (consider at home or work, in a vehicle)?"
- "What do I do if we have to evacuate (same considerations as sheltering)?"
- "What do I do if we can't communicate with family or local authorities?"

3. Next, we are awash with data and information; leverage that along with the numerous free resources available to us. There are many tools to enable us to answer these questions and be ready. A few recommendations (not exhaustive, there are countless out there):
- Maintain a list of phone numbers and websites for your local first responders, utilities, department of transportation, hospitals/clinics, emergency management authorities, etc.

- Visit ready.gov to access awesome free resources and information for preparing for any type of hazard, and use them.
- Download and use the free American Red Cross Emergency App.
- If in Ohio, download and use the free ODOT OHGO Mobile App.
(Both apps are really well done, great features and user experience, customizable alerts, minimally invasive from a data privacy view).

4. Lastly, it takes all of us to make our corner of the world more secure and prepared. Resilient people and families lead to resilient communities, which lead to resilient organizations and institutions, which lead to a resilient nation. All of us matter, or none of us do; it's We the People against the discordia of these present times and spaces. Be well.

I should not drink and post to Facebook...I get extra nerdy and preachy.

Well shit. Unfortunately my first thought when I heard about the KC135 down was to wonder if any of the fallen were civilian-airmen from Ohio's 121st Air Wing. Their memories will be carried onward. #NeverForget

"I draw from a lot of different life experiences: births, deaths, war, pain, depression, anger, sadness. [ ] I found it very easy to write lyrics when I was younger because I had no inhibitions-they just came pouring out. I find as I get older it's more difficult: you develop fears and you go, 'What will people think of this?' But it's important not to think too much about what people will think, because then you'll never write!"

Dolores O'Riordan, speaking of song themes in How I Wrote...: Songwriting Magazine. [228]

I dig this cover. Miley has some pipes. Other covers by Bad Wolves (2018) & STATE OF MINE (2025) are OK (a few minor lyric tweaks are πŸ‘). But none compare to the OG. Delores O'Riordan was a gifted songwriter. A true master of her art. 🫑 to her legacy.

A picture of a can of beer next to a full glass of a dark and enticing beer on a counter. The beer is a coffee vanilla Imperial Stout called Axis Mundi from Cincinnati, OH based Madtree brewery. It's so yummy πŸ˜‹.

Add tattoo parlors, payday loans, and strip clubs to the list and then deploy to towns outside military bases. Jacksonville and Fayetteville would be a great pilot.

Rewatched Glory tonight. Led me to finding the story of William Harvey Carney, the real life hero who received the Medal of Honor for picking up and carrying the 54th's colors through the assault and withdrawal at Fort Wagner.

"Boys, I only did my duty; the old flag never touched the ground!"
