The giant-sized ZEZTZ has been in the opening credits off and on for a while, so I figured theyβd get around to using him eventually.

The English-language remake of Michael Haneke's 1997 film was released in the U.S. on this day in 2008. @hoodedjustice.bsky.social examines their similarities and differences: crookedmarquee.com/the-same-aga...
Great pick and one of my favorite Welles films.
I am not surprised.
*(he would have turned 81 this year)
Iβm glad you think so!
I listened back to this last night and enjoyed the conversation all over again. Many thanks to @derekbgayle.bsky.social and @ickybooley.bsky.social for having me on and tolerating my asides about Jim Davisβs U.S. Acres and Roger Cormanβs Poe films.
Itβs after midnight, so it is officially my late fatherβs birthday (he would have turned this year), and the Clint Eastwood movie I watched in his memory is 1986βs HEARTBREAK RIDGE, which Iβm positive he would have watched back then. He definitely had a thing for war movies.
This is my 13th Eastwood film since I started this memorial project in 2017. So far, itβs been enlightening. May it continue to be so.

Iβm trying to remember the last time I had a bath (as opposed to taking a shower), which means it has been far too long.
You did a great job. All four look adorable!
Recreate the scene where Hedorah gives Godzilla a sludge bath in the privacy of your own home!
Thatβs like the seventh Howling movie being written and directed by the co-writer of 4, 5, and 6.

Definitely something to salivate over.
β¦Right?
A big bug, with its own zapper!
At least itβs going to be on a service I donβt have, so I wonβt even be tempted to watch it out of sense of morbid curiosity.
Obligatory Hooded Jason Repost
Wait, so Cinematrix will accept a Zoe SaldaΓ±a movie that had a single festival screening in 2004 and hasnβt been seen since, but not a two-part Adrien Brody miniseries? What the heck?
Jet Jaguar thumbs up
It was an honor to chat with these fine fellows for (checks podcast duration) two hours and 15 minutes about one of my favorite kaiju/toku films of all time.
Today's SKREEONK gets into Jet Jaguar's origins in a children's art contest, the shadow of popular toku heroes like Ultraman and Kamen Rider, and how MST3K, John Belushi, and the Democratic National Convention helped make Godzilla vs. Megalon a surprise hit in the US.

Punch! Punch! Punch! @hoodedjustice.bsky.social joins SKREEONK for 1973's Godzilla vs. Megalon, a tag-team battle between Godzilla and his new robot friend Jet Jaguar vs. goofy buds Gigan and Megalon (who is not a guy). Find the pod: glitterjaw.com/skreeonk

What sequel do you consider to be a large improvement over the original?
Lancelot du Lac (1974) / Joan of Arc (2025) / Cross of the Devil (1975) / Night of the Skull (1974)
Letterboxd/Filmsky Last Four Friday
Been an βof theβ kind of a week. Also, lots of skull masks and suits of armor, with Bresson, PΓ‘lmason, Gilling, and Franco all pitching in.

What sequel do you consider to be a large improvement over the original?
I just noticed the knight in the green tights has a sword sticking out of the most sensitive of areas.
"You die. He dies. Everybody dies."
The final shot of Bresson's LANCELOT DU LAC is the most HEAVY METAL-coded shit ever.
