Tomorrow's weather will hit a little bit differently than today. /understatement
Setup: today's record high for Charlottesville is 80Β° set most recently in 2021.
4pm temperature map: hold my beer.
*ANOTHER DAILY RECORD HIGH BROKEN IN C'VILLE*
The current temperature of 82Β° breaks the previous daily record high of 80Β° set most recently in 2021.
Not surprised to see the severe weather slight risk area pushed farther north in the past few hours. I'm not completely ruling out severe storms later today but the risk is MUCH lower thanks to cloudier skies / lack of sunshine.
*Very conditional* threat for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday in central Virginia. As in, several things have to align just right for severe storms to happen. And if they do, all threats will be in play. Stay weather aware; I'll keep you posted.
I wouldn't be surprised if a few of these radar blips to our west held together over the Blue Ridge Mountains and brought some showers to central Virginia in the next hour or two. That said, most will remain dry this evening.
Wildfire on Afton Mountain is the reason for a smokier sky / smell around central Virginia right now, especially north of Interstate 64. Several other fires around VA are contributing smoke, too.
There's another wildfire on Afton Mountain and some of that smoke could also be heading toward Manassas.
*NEW RECORD HIGH FOR MARCH 10 IN CHARLOTTESVILLE*
The current temperature of 82Β° breaks the previous record high for the date of 80Β° set in 2016.
I'm forecasting a new record high for Tuesday. It'll be a warm one!
Quite the variety, indeed!
What better way to come back from vacation than to hit the start of central VIrginia pollen season! New to the area? Get those OTC allergy meds in your body now!
drone fuel canβt melt steel beams
It's possible but there are other gauges around (McCormick Observatory is one) that make up for those data voids.
Some good news regarding our drought status: a good portion of the area has been upgraded to "moderate drought" conditions thanks to recent rain and snow/sleet melt. Charlottesville and points south remain under "severe drought" status at this time.
Connor from the Wildlife Center of VA brought "Elliott" the western hog-nosed snake in for a visit today. No danger noodle here: Elliott is harmless and while not native to Virginia is doing a great job as an education ambassador. Go Elliott!
Zip code 03589, sooooooo.... maybe?
Too early to tell for sure but inital thoughts are icy (freezing rain possible Monday night). Plus, anything wet from the rain during daylight will freeze.
100%. And allergy season starts in a few days. Woot.
Warmer.
The winter of wild (temperature) mood swings continues! The warm weekend will be followed by a sharp cooldown that will cause some of Monday's rain to fall as frozen precipitation overnight into Tuesday morning. What will fall and how much will be determined in the days ahead.
Central Virginia could be in for a decent soaker Thursday into early Friday. Next Monday could be a "mainly rain but ending as something frozen" deal. I'll worry about that closer to time.
Only modification I'd make to this map with regard to central VA snowfall is the Blue Ridge Mountains (Skyline/BRP/Wintergreen/Afton) will see more than 1-3"; I wouldn't be shocked if some got over six inches.
Rest of the CBS19 viewing area should see an inch or less snow accumulation.
Most of what falls on central Virginia on Sunday will be rain. Rain will change to snow showers after sunset as colder air is pulled in behind the storm. Precipitation ends before midnight Monday. This should be a low-impact storm for most but roads may be slick in spots Monday morning.

Some lightning strikes detected around Lexington to our southwest...
Temepratures will stay somewhat mild into the weekend but will slide coming out of it. I'm not entirely convinced we see snow this weekend in central Virginia but the prospects aren't being entirely elimintated. Stay tuned.
Was hoping someone would post this. You did not disappoint. Thank you.
A personal favorite. "A New Season" and "Hotel Womb" are IMO the best tracks on the album.
"Torpnado" is a new one.
