There is a rather compelling argument in this video that Home Alone is more sadistic than Saw.

The banter at the start of this is so fucking funny.
A Clarksonβs Farm account (itβs a fan account but itβs verified) with over 300k followers on X has posted an AI-generated video of Jeremy Clarkson assaulting Keir Starmer. 1 million people have viewed the video.

I am so full of admiration for Charlotte Nicholsβ courage in talking about this - particularly awful that as a woman in public life she will have had to consider first how people might use this information against her, especially online. Hope she has all the support she needs.
Every morning George Smiley puts on a three-piece suit and his preposterously large spectacles and asks himself βwhose tea shall I clock today?β

That school did NOT run a PVG check on Prideaux π«
Back on my Tinker Tailor shit. I love how they present this child as a sort of proto-Smiley, glasses and all. The school storyline used to feel random to me, but it adds so much.
Okay last post about this I promise, but when a certain kind of person talks about "the imperial core" I get the sense they're not aware that there are washing machines in Botswana.
My favourite part is when she's forced to concede that, yes, people have more free time now, but not her - she's spending all the time she's gained from automation "fighting for the survival of our comrades and children". Checkmate!
Sowing isn't that hard. It's plants and fresh air :)

Incredible thread, wrong in so many ways. Goalposts shift so much they enter a kind of quantum state.
It's not yet midday in Canada and this person has posted almost 20 times already, so I'd say there is a lot more leisure time nowadays.
Yes.
As glorious as everyone is saying it is

There are 24 questions and you have to get 75% or more.
University Challenge except its teams of MPs doing the Life in the UK test.........@bbc I have an idea for you
People who have been on University Challenge are not getting all the questions right!
In all seriousness though, when I went to do my test there was a woman in the waiting area with two unhappy toddlers, trying very hard to cram for the test and keep them occupied. She was on the verge of tears and clearly very stressed. Not everyone is good at this sort of thing. It's a lot to learn!
If you accept the silly claim that the UK needs to make immigrants do unnecessary and time-consuming things to get ILR, why are you making us learn who invented the hovercraft then? Make us do a shift in a care home. It will save you money
The questions aren't things politicians think you need to know to live in the UK.It's just hoop-jumping for hoop-jumpings sake. The difficult is the point. The problem is 1. the ILR application process is not without many hoops to jump through elsewhere and 2.just make us volunteer or something then
Feel free to do some practice tests and see how much being a proud Brit helps you lmao: britizen.uk/practice/lif...
Saying you'd pass the test because you're "a proud Brit" who has "served the country" immediately tells me you know nothing about the test.
When @jayzedbee.bsky.social likes one of my posts
Surely theyβre going to use this to fundraise like crazy? βTimothee Chalamet says nobody likes opera. Letβs prove him wrongβ emails and such
Those NYT snippets are broadly representative of AI writing imo, I donβt think theyβve tricked people into choosing AI there. Itβs just that people prefer writing that makes their brain feel smooth.
Admitting the sad truth that a lot of people are happy with - even prefer! - AI writing isnβt a concession that AI writing is good. People have enjoyed bad writing for as long as we have had writing!
