In all seriousness though,when I went to do my test there was a woman in the waiting area with two unhappy toddlers, trying very hard to cram for the test and keep them occupied. She was on the verge of tears and clearly very stressed. Not everyone is good at this sort of thing. It's a lot to learn!
If you accept the silly claim that the UK needs to make immigrants do unnecessary and time-consuming things to get ILR, why are you making us learn who invented the hovercraft then? Make us do a shift in a care home. It will save you money

Those NYT snippets are broadly representative of AI writing imo, I don’t think they’ve tricked people into choosing AI there. It’s just that people prefer writing that makes their brain feel smooth.
Admitting the sad truth that a lot of people are happy with - even prefer! - AI writing isn’t a concession that AI writing is good. People have enjoyed bad writing for as long as we have had writing!
