A river (though not recognisable) covered in a uniform layer of snow. A sign reading βFoss Islandsβ with small and unreadable information text sits in front. The sky is blue with a few clouds, and some low hanging trees sit in the background.
Another image of a frozen river with snow covering the surface. The clouds in the background have the sun shining through tjem and the sky is otherwise blue.
A frozen and snow covered River Foss this morning. Looks like I may be having a snowy graduation on Thursday β¦
And thatβs final day of Masters teaching for 2025 done earlier this week. Time to crack down and submit 1 paper before the end of the year, and finish this masters module before Jan, all whilst trying to avoid catching flu amongst the early flu peak this year ! π·
First few weeks as an NRN done. Yikes. People werenβt kidding when they said it was hard. Today another trip to Southampton for the MRes though.
Masters teaching day 2 coming upπ
Well - now my Twitter account has been hacked it looks like Iβm here entirely rather than Twitter now!
Thanks Ken!
first day of the masters degree tomorrow π§βπ and first time going to the city that said masters is in !
What a great article by Millie that I can certainly relate to. The winding down of motivation as financial pressures mount, and I myself found myself more drawn to putting things into practice and lost a bit of academic oomph towards the end in the whole juggling act. Still - we got there.
A wrap being held up to the camera in front of a blurred out background. The wrap has parsley sticking out of it and little else can be seen beneath.
Been combining my pre-employment check visits with checking out the local eats - today a rather ace (vegan) falafel wrap from Eastern Oven at Kirkgate Market en route from Jimmyβs to station. A little pricey but worth it. Photo does not do the joy it brought me justiceβ¦
Brill first day at #SOA25 - tonight means time to get ready for my ePoster tomorrow!
Getting packed and ready for #SOA25 that Iβm setting off for tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting new folk and catching up with people I havenβt seen for a while!
It does seem like there is absolutely no other occasion when I am more on top of my household chores than when I have a deadline. I may have my final uni deadline tomorrow and have not submitted anything, but at least my flat is cleaner than ever and Iβve done all possible laundry.
The winners of the 2025 Student Nursing Times Awards have been announced.

Thank you so much π itβs been a very very shocking and surprising day!
Enjoy Chris!!!!
Has been a lovely few days of good weather up in Yorkshire βοΈ
Having some R&R at last. Last week I had all of my uni deadlines but ended up as a patient on a specialist ward for the best part of a week. Though Spring break now finally feels that it has begun - but will be back to being a patient next week to start a new (& hopefully improved) treatment regime.
En route to #RCNEd25 for the next couple of days.
Really pleased that my abstract has been accepted for #SOA25 looking at non-pharmacological interventions to manage delirium in critical care. Looking forward to my third SOA congress but first time presenting! @ics-updates.bsky.social
So pleased to have received my final placement allocation as ICU - pleased to be concluding my student nursing days in intensive care prior to entering NQN life π
Busy with literature review writing for my final undergraduate essay, alongside trying to write a (part-time) Masters application, plus funding application too. February is flying byβ¦!
A delicious looking avocado toast next to a latte
100th parkrun today (followed by brunch!)
I had a goal of getting my 100 milestone before finishing uni and I managed it 6 months early π₯³
Hope youβre feeling better soon π

I do 100% agree that it sounds super pretentious though - but I feel like Oxbridge encourage that sort of thing. Is it just a fancy way of saying βI got a first in first year, second year and third yearβ But to sound more irritating?
Think triple first is a name for a grade - getting a first in each component.
We (though no one actually calls it that) can get a βdouble firstβ or βstarred firstβ at my uni but thatβs a specific grade (ie like an A*) with explicit requirements & goes on degree certificate.
I may be wrong though!
Getting ready for first night shift of 2025β¦ itβs been a while since my last night so a bit out of practice but I do enjoy nights.
A day house viewing in Oxford for my new job, and as well as another important task - sussing out the local coffee spots.
Finished off the year with a busy volunteer ambulance shift up in Derbyshire. 2024 was a challenging but good one, and Iβm proud of myself for what I achieved over the year, with a lot of fun on the way.
Hereβs to an even better 2025. Wishing everyone a lovely year π
