In 1980, NBC interviewed a young Trump about the ongoing Iran hostage crisis. He did not hold back. “That this country sits back and allows a country such as Iran to hold our hostages, to my way of thinking, is a horror, and I don’t think they’d do it with other countries,” he said. When the interviewer asked if that meant “you’re advocating that we should have gone in there with troops,” Trump replied, “I absolutely feel that, yes,” adding that had America done so, “I think right now we’d be an oil-rich nation.” (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said that he had dreamed of being able to “smite the terror regime” in Iran for 40 years; it turns out Trump had him beat.) In 1987, the Times reported that Trump declared in a New Hampshire speech that “the United States should attack Iran and seize some of its oil fields in retaliation for what he called Iran’s bullying of America.” In 1988, Trump told The Guardian that “I’d be harsh on Iran. They’ve been beating us psychologically, making us look a bunch of fools.”
I don't think many people realize that Trump has been talking about Iran like this since 1980: www.theatlantic.com/internationa...
had to read this like five times before its actual meaning set in—it briefly sounded almost as if a few had grown a spine. Should have known better.
We had $18k in rent requests come in just today (so far).
We’re anticipating needs at our neighborhood school to be over $100k again this month, but this time donations are WAY down. We don’t have enough money to cover everyone.
Please help us keep our neighbors w/ young kids from being evicted!
Wait are you telling me you haven’t heard those exact arguments? There were posters in my neighborhood in 2024 saying the reason NYC libraries were closed on Sundays was because…
If you are upset about the killing of children during the Iran strikes. You need to ask yourself what role you played in a Trump second term.
Shaggy but not unenjoyable I seem to remember. On the other hand, not that much of it stuck with me, and I didn’t read it all that long ago.
I'm already sick of "It's all a distraction from Epstein" replies. This regime is killing innocent people because our leaders are all power-hungry tyrants and war profiteers. When you say it's "just a distraction" you minimize the gravity of what's happening and the lives lost.
not to mention the unlovely and not necessarily innocent who also don’t deserve the bigotry

I always thought he was referring to the subway station 125-Lexington, especially since he talks about being “uptown,” and Kalustyan’s is far from uptown. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/125th_S...

Oh! A writer/comedian I like, Naomi Ekperigin, writes for that show, so I’ve been meaning to check it out, though I end up watching very little television these days.
A “cabal of wealthy people” is hovering around every presidential bid and only partially an explanation of what got Trump into office. Silly original post! (But I agree with yours.)
A reason will present itself! The worse thing is trying to find a formal outfit under the gun. Mirthless shopping.
