Exceptions exist.
It was one of the most moving moments I’ve observed in my career.
On top of that, he and his wife Joan [who died last year] then invited me to a lovely dinner.
In 2011, I found and interviewed the elusive, humble Edward, learning he’d never DONE an interview…or a book signing…or a school visit.
He’d never met his fans.

Less than a month shy of age 100, Edward Ormondroyd died.
His debut book “David and the Phoenix” [1957] was a childhood favorite of mine and now a cult classic. He wrote about a dozen more before hanging up his typewriter in the mid-1980s.

Ten years ago today, Batman co-creator Bill Finger’s life changed—41 years after he died.
DC Comics added his name to the Batman credit line—76 years after the character debuted.
And nine years after I began nudging, then pushing, for that.
