New A.C.A. Plans Could Increase Family Deductibles to $31,000

Lower premiums don’t mean much if a family has to pay $31,000 before coverage even kicks in each year. Health care coverage should mean care when you need it, not debt you can’t escape.

Let’s be clear: Taking away programs that put food on the table is not lifting people out of poverty. It is pushing families deeper into it and pretending harm is progress. That’s nothing to brag about.

Despite all the attacks on working people and their unions, the number of workers covered under union contracts is at its highest in 16 years. Workers know that the best check on a bad boss is a strong union contract.

Throughout his life, Rev. Jackson fought tirelessly for workers, both at home and around the world. At every turn, he reminded us that the fight for good jobs, living wages, and union rights is inseparable from the fight for justice and equality. May he rest in power.
