Hospitals tend to operate on "minimum safe staffing" at night - I have done a deep dive on these issues in Chapter 4 of my book "The Bleep Test": www.thebleeptestbook.co.uk/blank-2
Very excited to begin a new series of webinars in a couple of weeks: Mind The Crash Bleep.

Use of Intralipid in a Propranolol/Quetiapine induced cardiac arrest - our poster today at #SOA25
Evidence for lipid rescue is (and will likely remain) limited, but it really was an inspiring and uplifting case to have been a part of - ROSC after 76 mins CPR and an excellent neurological outcome.
As excited as I am to see The Bleep Test released on Audible on Tuesday, not too sure about their similar authors algorithm ππ

I was asked in a recent webinar whether The Bleep Test has an audiobook version, and very soon the answer will be yes!
Looking forward to the audiobook release in a couple of weeks, read and brought to life by Stewart Crank.

It claims that only 21/302 Black/Black British applicants were "appointable". What this data doesn't say is whether the difference was the MSRA scores (suggestive of differential teaching/education/med school attainment) or at interview (suggestive of A LOT of subconscious bias from interviewers)
Tues 28 Jan I'm going to be doing a webinar for the MindTheBleep FY1 series on wellbeing working night shifts - planning to discuss sleep cycles, decision fatigue and strategies to minimise risks for our patients and ourselves. Hope you can join! #MedSky

Hi Josh, I was wondering - the IBCC chapter for SCAPE says bolus 1000-2000mcg nitroglycerine initially, but the Resus Crisis Manual chapter says 200-400mcg +/- repeat in 2 mins.
Any tips / pitfalls for judging the initial dose here? Thanks!
Changeover day tomorrow. For lots of FY1s who have done psychiatry or something else niche as their first rotation, it will feel like the first Wednesday of August all over again.
Be kind out there folks.

Lying in recovery after my surgery, it hurt more than I expected to hear the staff talking about "the sigmoidectomy in bed 3".
Changing to "the guy who had the sigmoidectomy, in bed 3" would have been so much better.
I'm sure I've made this mistake myself in the past. Words matter

Recently recovering from a robotic high anterior resection, it was actually music, whole albums at a time, I was listening to - not my normal podcasts

Exciting day coming up....'Small Numbers, Big Ideas' will be published tomorrow!
Thank you very much to everyone who gave such kind reviews!
We hope it'll be useful for lots of parents, teachers, TAs and school leaders.

"A remarkable book. Luke Austen writes beautifully, sharing real-life stories to illustrate many of the key issues that will face doctors throughout their careers. His wisdom and compassion come shining through. Highly recommended."
