Who needs a console when I can just whip up a new Zelda in my browser with Gemini!
PSX and N64 ports as well?!
Love it.
Listening to a few episodes of My Perfect Console (recommended) and itβs so cool to hear guests describe their experience, and how the game landed in the context of the time. Much like your great book. Would be awesome to hear more of that.
Concept test!
Thinking about making this:
-20th century gaming only
-Covers old games/events/systems (similar to my book)
-52 pages/6 issues per year
-A5 to meet a target price of <Β£10 an issue
-Subs only
-Kickstarter in March-ish

More info/concepts to come!
GameCube was my preferred system that gen, but Gradius V, GTA 3, Ico and God of War pulled me in.
Just head the amazing wipeout pod, and yesterday the RGDS pod on the PSP. Immediately break out/charge the psp & vita and have a few rounds of Pure and Pulse. Thanks for the great work.
So my Q for the pod is: what are the main things that give you a nostalgia itch, and what was the last one?
Thanks for the list. Just watched Bring Her Back - was solid and unsettling.
What device Morning sir just trash number one thank you were you playing Parodius on?
Only played briefly but Iβm so here for the Steamworld Dig-style OCD treasure hunt
Shield Portable and Shield Tablet were proof of concepts to get Nintendo to the table. Glad it worked. Still no Half Life 2 port from Shield TV yet
Dude thank you - just ordered my 2 mins ago!!!
Nintendo Switch 2 consoles seems to be still up for people at Walmart (regional availability):

Great collection - only perfect port of Alien Syndrome, which is great fun alongside Xeno Crisis on GBA.
Brit here, moved to US in 2003. First 60hz compatible scart TV was huge fidelity in 1989. Small Sony 14β after that in 1993. 10 yrs later in US quickly found out the joy of Scart to component converters. Never looked back. Still rocking the 2005 Sony 24β CRT.
Hoping for the best, preparing to still be disappointed there will be no official Joycon with a d-pad.
That skirtβ¦
So tempted but Iβm a mister virgin and am not sure how much tweaking will be involved vs my Analog Pocket.
Looks amazing.
In university when this hit. My fave arcade game then. With Salamander, Parodius and Rondo, Konami delivered. Compared to the C64 version, was mind blowing. Shame we never got a contra port, or Gradius never made it to MegaDrive.
itβs a great machine for when you canβt sit at a desk or hog the family TV. Steamβs good, & frequent sales so itβs easy to build a library if you arenβt a pc gamer already. The OLED model has an amazing screen. sticks are less thumb-arthritis inducing than Switch, lots of games not on Switch.
And the Switch 2 will be going strong for long enough to get us through this.
Looks amazing. When can I pre-order?
The world's first affordable FPGA gaming console. Inspired by the PS one. Supports PS1 games, memory cards, and controllers. Analog/Digital output. NFC/WiFi/BT. MiSTer FPGA compatible. Disc support not pictured.
Pricing starts at $149 for founders and friends.
Not to mention no OG Dead Space playable on PS4 or PS5
Great pod. Raid Over Moscow immediately came to mind.
Love this game. I recall playing at Uni with my mates and the kid down the hall was an amiga owner - he couldnβt believe my tiny Engine was pumping out a game that bested his Gauntlet port.
Loved R-Type so when i saw mean machines coverage had to have one. Jump from my C64 was absurd. 1st year of Uni and the kid down the hall had an Amiga (4x size) and was just like βwot?β At the smooth scrolling on R-Type, the music on Dungeon Explorer and the carnage of Ultimate Tiger. Oh what fun.
Been a happy owner of one since 1989, thanks to our coverage. Just pulled some Hucards out last night to use with my Analogue Pocket adaptor - still the best cartridge format
M2 quality peaked with 3D classics on 3DS and Switch.
Sadly I notice the (v small) lag on the Genesis/MD minis and the PC Engine mini.
