👉Our findings underline the importance of addressing functional capacity and psychosocial factors in long-term survivorship care.
doi.org/10.1007/s005...
We found:
✅In long-term survivors of working age, nearly 1 in 3 were on long-term work disability.
✅Lower physical and cognitive functioning, body image distress, and physically demanding occupations were most strongly linked to disability, while clinical factors were not.

Today is an international masturbation day! Still a taboo topic and not nearly enough research out there - but NRK is spotlighting our new study today 🤩 go give it a read (in Norwegian) here: www.nrk.no/trondelag/fo...

Really important thread.
Politicians keep pretending apps & tech can magically make people better, healthier, happier.
Too many credulous journalists keep lapping it up.
Trial participants keep saying meh, no thanks.
-Childless adults show a bigger rise (and later drop) in masturbation frequency than parents.
-Nonheterosexual people report higher frequencies at every age.
-Education and religion? Minimal impact on long-term patterns.

- Women’s masturbation frequency peaks in their early 30s, then gently declines; men’s stays steady from 19–50.
- Solo sex is mostly independent of how often people have partnered sex-especially for men.

Excited to share our new article in the Journal of Sex Research @tandfresearch.bsky.social on how masturbation habits change from young adulthood to midlife. We found some interesting patterns. Read more: doi.org/10.1080/0022...

Main figure of the paper: Associations between parental mental health (anxiety and depression, alcohol problematic use, ADHD, eating disorder) with children's tests scores in mathematics, reading comprehension and English as second language at age 10.
New preprint!
We find no evidence that parental mental health influences children's academic achievement when comparing families in the Norwegian MoBa study.

How popular are cosmetic surgeries nowadays? A new study from Ingela Kvalem @dr-ilk.bsky.social and Bodis lab at @uio.no surveyed 3000 Norwegian women and found that one in six had one or more cosmetic surgeries. Breast surgery is the most common one. Read more here: tidsskriftet.no/en/2025/01/o...

Well this is... disappointing. The Royal Society's mission is "to promote excellence in science for the benefit of humanity" so the message here is what? It doesn't care about the mission? Once in the club you're in for life no matter what?*

If professors had actual brainwashing power, we wouldn't see gender and racial bias in student evals.

🙆♀️ Wow, recent data on academic gender gaps in EU's report:
- although women obtain more bachelor's degrees
- fewer women obtain a doctorate
- 1/3 of EU researchers are women
- 16% of authorship teams are gender balanced
- lower overall funding success for women
Way to go!
Literally cannot wait to share this ✨new publication✨ with y’all.

Tl;dr. White working-class women’s body image is rooted in appearance norms, rather than appearance ideals (they are conceptually different).
Super important to consider intersectionality of class x gender
On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a reminder to not close your eyes and turn away from what is happening in the US right now. Fascism is an assault on scientific integrity, knowledge, and innovation.
