So much *discourse* going on about Frieren that is frankly, really annoying, because it’s not a GOATED anime (though it is great, I ❤️ it, don’t get me wrong), but the takeaway of the series is perfectly encapsulated here. Go on a silly adventure, make a memory, you won’t regret it! It’s that simple!

When Frieren is in 'Journey Mode' there's really nothing like it. It's when the show is at its most powerful. It truly feels like magic. Pastoral landscapes, Evan Call's phenomenal score, little character moments... I love it so much. 😭

Got a real nice comment on this piece about Gundam and Newtypes and why they’re important, and it got me all fired up about Gundam again.

100%. It’s such a mess. Either just be pure spectacle (which could work) or actually build the story in meaningful ways to make the fights matter. The flashbackery is such a crutch. If that’s how you’re gonna try to get me to care, don’t even bother.
