To celebrate my birthday at work I made a candy salad and I brought some brown paper bags (and postcards) that I had printed pictures of my dog on, and I made little party hat stickers out of collage scraps, so my coworkers could give Luna a hat and then fill the bag with candy

My favorite thing about academia is the relationships that form when people help each other learn to THINK. Which is actually pretty intimate if you think about it? It doesn’t seem like a lot of circumstances give you the chance to know someone and be known in that way
Idk if I’m just an egomaniac but I never felt nervous asking for letters of rec. And like not bc I assume everyone wants to write me a GOOD letter even, I just think I’m a Pleasure To Have In Class and obviously people want to talk about it
I’m pleased to report that when I was using the guillotine paper cutter at work and the arm started to slip, I used my lightning fast reflexes to successfully catch and prevent the arm from falling onto and cutting the paper.
I am pained to report that I did it with just like my bare hand
