5-6) Meeting with community leaders in Miramar to talk about how to help migrants.
3) Kim and partners at Miramar, discussing how to respond to the challenges that migration patterns bring. The small community of about 300 cares deeply about arrivals but does not have the resources for a comprehensive response.
4) Kim and Fred at Fe y Alegria
None committed crimes in the US. They applied for asylum and were then expelled. Many have no identification documents and study here under a temporary 30 to 90-day status trying to figure out what to do. They cannot legally work and do not speak Spanish.
More Panama Highlights:
1-2) The gymnasium at Fe y Alegria, a Jesuit facility repurposed to house the people expelled from the US on military flights last month. They are all from Asia and Africa, and very young.
3) A room inside the abandoned building housing migrants.
4) The boats that go to Colombia from Miramar. The total cost is $250 per person to get there. There is only one boat a day and it fits 30 people. 30 people per boat once a day
