Lots of people do not know about DLD and so over the next few weeks, we are sharing some basic facts that are evidence-based. DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) is not something children can grow out of, but it does not mean they cannot thrive...#devlangdis #DLDday

I'm one of many! Lots of excellent work going on but still lots to do... 💪

I work in a Borough where there's been lots of work by amazing teams (SALT and local authority) and I recognise much more awareness in the schools compared to previous places I've worked

I just think generally there is much more awareness of SLCN and the impact on learning and behaviour. I know teachers are recognising DLD traits more readily and it's becoming more widely known. I'm asked for training much more than say 2 years ago. I also wonder if it depends on location

I think lots of hard work is paying off. There is much more awareness in my experience of underlying SLCN in children and young people with SEMH/ Behavioural Needs and also of DLD. Still more to do but I really think progress is being made! 🤞
