Take action and let council know why more clean, free, and accessible washrooms matter to you before they vote on Tues, Jan. 20th.
Widely available public washrooms are essential to a healthy and inclusive city—but we've all experienced Vancouver's lack of safe and clean washrooms.
Our community has consistently spoken up for more public washrooms—and we're relieved to finally see a washrooms strategy on council's agenda this week. 🚽
We have close to 400 members in our growing community.
Here's a sneak peek of the winter schedule we've got that puts community, taking action, and collective learning front and centre.

We're looking forward to more community engagement in the New Year. If you want to know about upcoming Our City Hall workshops that you can attend in your local neighbourhood, drop a comment below.
Some municipal issues that were brought up include: A need for meaningful consultation where residents' voices are truly considered and a desire for third spaces in the community to provide opportunities for connection and building relationships between neighbours.
Two people are seated at a round table. The person on the left writes on an orange post-it, while the person on the right gazes to the side.
Three focused participants writing down their ideas.
Two people at an arts and craft table, facing each other; one person smiles as they colour in a sheet, while the other person smiles up.
The room set-up for the workshop: There are four round white circles with white folding chairs, paper snowflakes hang from the ceiling, and a TV screen displays the title page of Women Transforming Cities' Shape Your Community workshop.
Community members gathered on a Sat. afternoon at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House to discuss what local government issues matter most to them.
📍Deadline is Jan. 20th, 2026 to fill out the expression of interest form.

UPDATE: Proposal to terminate volunteer advisory committees is withdrawn! ✊🏽💥
This is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that WTC members have fought back against policies that harm equity-deserving residents, resulting in withdrawn proposals and amendments. 👏🏽❤️
Keep showing up. It's making a difference. 👁️

As a board member at @womentcities.bsky.social, I’ve seen how people coming together can reshape the cities we live in so we can thrive. WTC’s advocacy and programs are making a real difference—but this work needs all of us.

Thank you so much to @womentcities.bsky.social for organizing this and bringing together so many parents to raise awareness about the harms this budget will mean for children, families, and vulnerable communities.

Possibly the first protest of its kind at City Hall this morning. A diaper change-in protesting budget cuts and fee increases to amenities for new parents, and many others. @womentcities.bsky.social
Join @womentcities.bsky.social at our diaper “change-in” at city hall tomorrow, 9-10:30am to draw attention to this harmful budget. Bring your babies, toddlers, and friends! www.instagram.com/p/DRNu5kYksgu/

We just submitted an open letter to Vancouver Council signed by 250+ residents, including >100 physicians & other health professionals, urging them to withdraw the proposed 2026 budget. The budget puts climate action, public health, & community safety at risk. @womentcities.bsky.social

Between the efforts of the Stand.earth community and our allies (shoutout @womentcities.bsky.social, @cape-bc.bsky.social, @dogwoodbc.bsky.social, the arts community) and so many more, not only did we send more than 17,000 messages to Vancouver City Council...
And if you’re free Tuesday morning, @womentcities.bsky.social is organizing a change-in at City Hall from 9-10:30am, in protest of removing changing tables from public bathrooms (amongst all the other 💩-y things in this budget).

Removing change tables & product dispensers overwhelmingly burdens women & folks that menstruate.
These indignities are multiplied when someone has unstable housing or doesn't have a home.
Reliable access to bathrooms is a basic human dignity. Shame on Ken Sim & ABC for these budget cuts.
