Since the winter semester is coming to an end in Germany, think of us when your students write great term papers and theses ๐๐ We're hoping to publish our first issue this year.
A glossy poster flat on a wooden desk. It says: "Proud of your term paper? Publish your research in SREL. Submit your work! Student Research in English Linguistics is an open access and peer-reviewed journal that showcases outstanding linguistic research by BA, Lehramt and MA students in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It aims to suppport budding linguists taking their first steps into the world of academic publishing. Learn more: srel.ub.uni-muenchen.de" There is a QR code to the website and the LMU logo.
If you'd like a poster to advertise SREL on your office door or message board, let us know and we can email you a PDF to print or send you a poster in the mail ๐
4) provide early-career researchers with an opportunity to review. In particular, we emphatically encourage PhD students to volunteer as reviewers (see our website) 4/
3) give students an opportunity to learn more about the editorial side of things: we are currently hiring student assistants, thanks to LMU-internal funding 3/
2) give students an opportunity to publish their work in a supportive context: we firmly believe that peer review should be constructive and not soul crushing! "Reviewer 2" is not welcome ๐ 2/
With SREL, our goals are to 1) improve the diffusion of knowledge by providing an outlet for good student research: too many excellent term papers and theses are never read by anyone except a teacher or two. 1/
The journal is open to submissions as of today ๐ฅณ If you are a teacher or researcher based at a German, Austrian or Swiss university, do not hesitate to talk to your students and colleagues about SREL.
