Happy Monday to all the parents who have spent the weekend dodging questions about the meaning of Wood from their 9 year old all weekend. Never have been so relieved to be sat working on Human Subject Projections documents

In person or remote? I'd love to attend from here in the US!
Any associate prof level coming π
The room was packed, panelists were amazing and the attendees asked the best questions.
It was a hard call to not be home for my 9 year old's birthday (took the redeye home). But a packed room waving to her was pretty special β€οΈ
Arrived back on the east coast after a jam packed 2.5 days in Seattle for #INSAR2025. Many highlights and proud mentor moments. It will be hard to top chairing our "Not autism. Not yet" panel on late and missed diagnosis.
Thank you for attending!
I really want to see #1
Steve Parker, professor of Computational Medicine, writes to NC β°οΈ: βThe stunning landscapes & kind-hearted people make this place magicalβ but a looming threat to federal science funding could undermine both their health & economy. π§ͺπ

Science feels really hard right now. But my phone is full of amazing scientists and mentors who have stepped up to offer guidance and support. I hope we can all remain in this field long enough to return the favor if ever needed.
requested a download of all my data from the dark place and will be leaving (I haven't posted in months as my timeline looks nothing like it used to)
After they said they weren't changing anything....
I wrote a column in my hometown newspaper about the importance of keeping SCIENCE FUNDING in our community π§ͺ
More soon about the power of writing back HOME π

Damn this one includes my institution. These transition programs are needed, as is the research to figure out what works for whom
Happy to report that APA wrote this letter, gathered a coalition across science, and will now pay for ads for it to be disseminated in Science and Chronicle of Higher Ed to spread the word!! unitedsciencealliance.org
Looking forward to my stock email response from Tillis. Yet to receive any responses from Budd
Same message here
I'm glad it's not just me, but ......... (screams into the void!). I am getting the same error
Yes. Came here to search the same thing.
Glad my emails were worth it (got a stock one back today). Yet to have one back about NIH funding given how much NC receives
I guess we're in "email your representatives" season. Sigh.
Fun fact - NC was the 3rd largest recipient of NIH funding in 2023 after CA and NY. Sneaking in ahead of PA. NIH funding brings so many jobs to NC and supported $5.34b in economic activity.
New from my rockstar grad student, Mags McAllister, who took SSC data and collated items across measures to create an echolalia "composite." Take home - echolalia is highly prevalent, and varies over the course of development.
(Mags did this all in her 1st year of grad school. She's one to watch!)
As with everything with my career, my grant journey has been unconventional. Started with an R01, then R21, now an R03.
UK followers: Looking for recommendations for adult autism dx (50s, female) in London and surrounding areas. Someone with experience with females, late dx and differential dx. Not through the NHS due to waitlists. Thanks in advance.
For anyone looking for postdoctoral opportunities for Summer/Fall 2025, I would love to submit an applicant for our T32 training program interested in sex differences, gender, social interaction/relationships, and/or mental health.
Contact me if interested!
I've had to set limits for myself and mark myself as away when travelling or big deadlines coming up. I also prioritize those I am on the board for, want to be on the board for or have high impact factors. Unless something is super interesting/in my area, I say no a lot!
I hope it is highly cited in said journals now π
Happy to share the paper if you would like
Thanks for the shout out Ann! Means a lot. This paper started after I read a paper that said anything over 3 was considered late. As someone who works mostly with women and girls, this was mind blowing to me! I am glad this paper is out now (was rejected by two other journals for being too niche)
