My son turns six today. I love him so much! This year, he is super into PokΓ©mon, which is fun for me, too. This weekend we travel to visit my parents. I will continue to be scarce on social media. Life is more than screens

My good friend Jesse Balmer has put together a book of his work. Go pick up a preorder. Itβs gorgeous. Heβs worked as an artist on adventure time and many other shows but his Personal work is singular. Grab it here www.harpyharpy.com

Deleted the current events poem I posted as there was virtually no response. Will go to plan B, submitting it
A darkened interior or exterior. A flashlight on a window with shutters open. Within the blackness of the window in yellow is, "I know what a DEADLY INSTRUMENT the human body can be!"
I was a contributor to Libre before joining the team. Mary published this contrapuntal piece, "Manic/Depressive," which is very dear to me. I am sad to see its home disappear.
It was an honor and a privilege to read for Libre and to be able to publish so many daring and vulnerable poems.
I apologize to authors for whom this news is a surprise. It was for me as well.
Sincerely,
DW

Dear readers of Libre, this is farewell. Libreβs founder, publisher, and EiC, Mary, has decided the project is at an end. Her dedication & expertise are irreplaceable.
With this news, I will also be stepping down from my role as Managing Editor, as there is now nothing to manage.

Happy to have a poem in the collage issue of The Engine Idling. Titled "To Hold," it's a golden shovel in my experimental riverbed form
I have a related craft essay forthcoming in print, titled "Meander, Erosion, and Deposition in the Contrapuntal Poem"

I predict history books will look on this war as the culminating reaction to the action taken in Gaza. The twelve days war with Iran from 2025 will just be part of a narrative about conflict and changes in global opinion spanning 2023-2026. The world order is changing
Decolonization of the middle east is accelerating as Gulf states turn on the US for lack of material support during Iran's counterattack. US citizens abroad were also left behind. Protecting the pedophile blackmailers in Israel came first, of course. I pray we avoid nuclear war
I recall someone comparing where we are now with the broader impact of online gambling / sports betting to the beginning of the opioid crisis, when families of the affected & those working directly in the field could tell, but research, opinion, etc hadn't caught up. Worse before it gets better...
may God smite and foil the warmongering, child trafficking followers of Baal. America must revolt against their infinite wars in our name! No war but class war
I have a new one that is very close to being ready to send out...lmk if you like eco poetry that tackles AI, social media and representation...if you want a memoir of what it has been like to be an interfaith Jewish kid in a dysfunctional family full of loss, I have that, too.
I don't have an MFA, but I got a BA in Anthropology & Music, then spent several years as a touring & recording bassist, then spent ten years teaching reading intervention and english/language arts. I have learned a lot about how the body processes sound, rhythm, symbol, & sense

first order of business is to finally finish writing about @evaalterpoet.bsky.social's AUTOCARTOGRAPHIES, a formal marvel, among my favorite chapbooks of 2025.
I am emerging from over 3 months of prose writer's block. Haven't been able to progress in any reviews or other essays since November, though not for lack of trying. The poems have continued to flow. Separate waveforms; separate decay/sustain/release patterns... it would seem...
Cover of Replaceable You by Mary Roach
Almost done. Like all Mary Roach books, it is of course both extremely delightful and also way too short

My new story "A Body, A Commodity" reimagines the folktale about The Woman with the Golden Arm from a disabled perspective... with a vengeful little twist at the end. β‘οΈ
This is one of the pieces in my dissertation collection of queer and disabled retellings.
