We should have stuck this quote on the Voyager golden records.
It could cover pretty much all human history TBF.
Congratulations, you have just invented renting.
Guiseley affirms this message.
"John, maybe"??? Have you read John 8?
That has nothing to do with Jesus the person having existed.
The only reason that quote is attributed to Epicurus is thanks to an early Christian writer Lactintius ina counterargument (he may have misattributed it). The 'Problem of Evil' is not resolved and certainly won't be by a meme quote.
The problem is there are grounds for opposing pretty much any net zero project.
I can see the potential problems with CCUS but I also understand that it does actually exist and should be considered on its merits alongside other options without imposing an ideological veto. And the same for nuclear.
You sure can read quick!
Give it a rest. You brought up CCUS. I didn't mention it in my reply to Polanski.
The Christ myth theory is an embarrassment. So much so that some atheists have devoted huge amounts of time to debunking it.

Dunkelflaute isn't a problem you can argue away. It's a critical issue and if you're going to rule out CCS it's perfectly reasonable to ask what you propose instead.
Your example doesn't need specialist engineering skills or major infrastructure. Other renewables which are essential to net zero, such as offshore wind, do. We've already seen projects having to scale back or be delayed due to supply chain issues.
Yeah, you don't want to discuss that do you?
As I type the UK is generating less than 15% of our electricity from fossil fuels.
Imagine how the Iran oil crisis would be playing out for the UK if we hadn't invested in renewables.
It's not "we can't afford net zero" it's "we can only afford net zero". It's now a national security imperative.
What is your proposed solution to solving the problem of dunkelflaute?
You're supposing there is a viable alternative. Dunkelflaute is the problem here. LDES options are being investigated to resolve it but there's no guarantee they will prove viable.
I don't think you appreciate the scale of what is already underway. We're going to be doubling electricity generation within 20 years. Yes, of course, supply chains and skills can be built up but that itself takes time, particularly given the highly specialist nature of the work.
There are practical issues that need careful attention, but I believe it's a mistake to oppose these on principle. Dunkelflaute is yet to be resolved. If LDES cannot be practicably developed then there may be no other choice but to use gas with carbon capture.
You might want to start by telling your local councillors to stop opposing net zero projects.
No, tidal has limited locations where it can work. It's had every chance to prove itself but it hasn't been able to measure up to wind and solar.
Sizewell C will power 6 million homes.
More to the point it ignores the geological reality that there's not much oil left. We're at the tail end of production and there's nothing that can be done to reverse it even if you wanted to.
I suspect LEGO's production costs are a tiny percentage of their expenditure.
He started his career on Spitting Image.
Thing is, I'm not THAT worried about the USA on this. Despite the emanations from the White House, coal use is still dropping and wind and solar are being rolled out at state level. The trouble for the USA is other countries are taking the lead, which will weaken its economy.
Yeah, it's funny how words change their meaning. Like, you would never say "Leeds United were an apocalypse in this afternoon's match".
The english word Apocalypse is derived from a Greek word meaning Revelation or Uncovering, so it's not a surprise to see it used in Italian in that way. But it has acquired a particular meaning in english given its use in eschatology.
No, this particular strand of weird Christianity started in Ireland and England a good 200 years after the puritans left for America. Mostly thanks to this guy. And even then it wasn't a widespread belief until the 20th century.

Well, good for you, I guess. Meanwhile China is gearing up to build another 291GW of coal power stations. But I'm sure it's just a fun hobby or something and they won't use them.
