Transformers Telephone lasted from 1986 to 1992, ending with Operation Combination. I’ve heard Japanese fans say they knew Transformers was really over when they called, and Optimus didn’t answer.
Transformers telephone did return eventually for multiple series, like Beast Wars and Car Robots.
