This article traces how images of leaves, silkworms, and even what is claimed to be Yue Fei's calligraphy shaped people's territorial imaginations in 1930s China. It also briefly reflects on the long-lasting impacts of these territorial tropes in contemporary Taiwan and China.

We discuss how the Central Asiatic Expedition, sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History, reflected certain aspects of imperialism in its global accumulation of fossils during the early twentieth century.

The article concentrates on the intersection of vertebrate paleontology, the emergence of the early-Republican scientific community, diplomacy, and nationalism.

Her visit symbolized a common Taiwanese experience: we may not always get recognized, but we work hard and carry on. Glad to see that she and Lai Ching-te will be leading Taiwan on the right path towards global engagement and deepening the values of democracy and freedom. 3/

For obvious reasons, the school categorized this visit as a "private trip" and did not offer her a campus-wide lecture opportunity. However, she was able to give a lunch talk to students of EAS and discussed Taiwan's democracy and its role in the world. 2/

I had the privilege of meeting Hsiao Bi-khim during her visit to her alma mater, Oberlin, in 2022, when she was the Taiwanese Ambassador to the US. 1/
