Yea, can’t blame ‘em, everyone loves those uniforms and it probably would have been too time consuming to design/produce a new uniform just for those flashback scenes. But it always felt like a missed opportunity to evoke a unique era.
Usually when these kinds of ideas circle around my brain I have enough self control to keep them there, but every once and awhile I indulge. One day, for example, I'll design an alternate Enterprise B that isn't just an Excelsior and fits between the A and C more naturally.
I love the Wrath of Khan uniforms, but they always seemed incongruous with the Motion Picture uniforms that came before them and the Next Generation uniforms that essentially came after, so years ago I designed some transitional uniforms for fun
