I hope things pick up soon - and wanted to say how frustrating that experience of offering to do some useful work and being told it’s not part of your job must have been!

So I guess that’s 20 days of 20% of global oil demand, which is the estimate of what passes through the Strait.

That’s a big moment. I hope as you say it is the start of something new. And compared to the several years it recently took a good friend of mine to settle his divorce, it’s been blessedly speedy too.

Easy to miss! Quite a video too.

I’ve just made the mistake of researching England’s top 10 T20 run chases.

Based on my dad’s experience shipping his personalised stationery and jam labels overseas, I’ve always been really impressed that you’re willing to give it a go - particularly given the fragile nature of the product and that there must also be extra rules relating to food!

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

The Ivy House pub is community-owned and ticks the 100-seat venue with a stage I’m sure. Nunhead is also zone 2, though only served by train to stations including Blackfriars and Victoria

This is a great thread. I’ve said it before and will say it again - radio is an amazing medium.

We’ve been through several combined waffle and sandwich makers over recent years…

A Midea rice cooker

A sad day…this rice cooker - at least 24 years old - has died. What’s the oldest electrical kit still working in your home?

Can I ask a couple of questions about this? How long does it take to cook white rice (and if you know, brown rice)? Also do you know what the capacity is? We’re a family of four and reading reviews it seems like it’s really only suitable for up to three people. I’d like up to 2 dry cups rice. Ta!

What was the image format that would render slowly on screen from the top down? I feel like jpegs supplanted that and appeared all at once

I enjoyed a field trip with my kids to visit the famous Bowie bandstand a few years ago!

So many wonderful artefacts from this account - well worth a follow. Look at the weave quality on these 2000+ year old clothes!

I bet it is great fun - I hope it is also some measure of financial compensation for the work you do to moderate! Out of interest have you ever published the monthly best of fesshole summary on here? I just got served it on Facebook and was surprised how many great fesses I’d missed.

It was a joy the day that happened to me but it won’t happen again as I stuck with my old starter word as I play several wordle-adjacent games against my dad every day so stuck with the original one!

Sounds blissful. Reminds me of a time I travelled for a weekend to the Lake District in the footsteps of an Ian McEwen novel’s protagonist, to do some of the same walks and see if the pub that featured matched his description!
