Great energy yesterday as we rallied to call out the despicable gender-affirming care cuts at NYU-Langone and Mt. Sinai and called on our elected officials to step up and make sure no trans young person loses access to care!

As private hospitals continue to abandon trans youth and other states get ever more cruel in their anti-trans laws, we need New York City and State to step up! Join us on Sunday!
An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.
Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.
This is pure cruelty.

Statement on a white background with a blue outline and LID's logo at the top. The statement reads: LID Condemns NYU-Langone's Closing of the Transgender Youth Health Program The Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn condemn in the strongest possible terms NYU Langone's decision to end gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth. This abrupt withdrawal abandons patients who have relied on NYU's expertise and continuity of care, and it was taken under the pretext of a shifting "regulatory environment" while families and clinicians scramble to find safe alternatives. NYU's action will sever access to puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and other medically necessary treatments that many young people depend on to live.
Statement on a white background with a blue outline reading: This decision also runs headlong into New York State's legal and regulatory framework that protects access to gender-affirming care and prohibits discrimination in health services; state authorities have explicitly warned hospitals that they must continue providing such care and that denying it risks violating state law. By abandoning these young patients now, NYU is consigning them to needless suffering and increased risk of severe mental health crises, including self-harm and death, outcomes that New York's laws and medical ethics are designed to prevent. On behalf of all queer people in Brooklyn, we demand that NYU immediately reverse this decision, restore full, uninterrupted care to transgender youth, and work with state officials to ensure compliance with New York law and the safety of our community's children.
Shameful decision by NYU-Langone to end gender-affirming care for trans young people!
Rev. Jesse Jackson built the Rainbow Coalition as a political home rooted in dignity and solidarity. That struggle continues here in New York City, in every fight for housing, justice, and equality.
Today, we lower our flags in his honor β and recommit to the movement he called us to build.

The last block of a bike lane on Ashland Place in Downtown Brooklyn has remained unfinished for years thanks to meddling by Adams advisor Ingrid Lewis-Martin.

This piece on how the federal government is treating trans migrants is so infuriating -- the toxic combination of Trumpist xenophobia and transphobia. We need to #AbolishICE but that's just the start -- we need a whole new system grounded in human rights and dignity. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.
Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right
