A misty and frozen start to the day on our dog walk to Hayeswater flanked by the Knott and Grey Crag on either side. Blue sky and the remains of a wonderful mist and cloud inversion which sit on the tops of the mountains. Now this is a tarn and no longer a reservoir it's a great location for swimming in the warmer months to come.

Saturday wander and dog walk to Hayeswater(decommissioned as a reservoir in 2014) This is a mountain glacial tarn originally dammed in 1908 to supply drinking water to the Ullswater area in the #LakeDistrict. Cold frosty morning and some mist remains on the tops

Close up photo of a group of Cladonia podetia. Each podetium is light grey in colour and shaped roughly like a golf tee. The top/bowl of each podetium is ringed with numerous small, roundish bright red blobs. These blobs are called apothecia - they are reproductive, spore producing structures.

Ceratiomyxa sphaerosperma from Mera, Pastaza, Ecuador. This tiny slime mold makes its spores on little stalks, giving it a distinctive appearance. My favorite feature of these are the glass-like stems.

Evening views of Bamburgh beach and castle from across the rocks. Partially cloudy sky gave some muted sunlight colours in the clouds

Evening stroll and dog walk at Bamburgh Beach, Northumberland. Started off relatively cloudy but the clouds started to break up a little aand give some lovely soft light in the sky across the beach and rocks. A worthwhile wander.

Measuring roughly 1/4 inch long (.6 cm, about the size of a match head), with an oblong, oval shape, similar to a tiny, elongated ladybug, but yellow-green, with three distinct, dark, longitudinal stripes running down their back (the wing covers, or elytra) from the head to the tail. They also have a dark, vertical stripe in the center of their head and a dark spot on the plate just behind their head (the pronotum). Shown holding onto small greenery, against out of focus green background.
