the same nettles up close, with my hand for scale. it’s difficult to convey the texture difference in a photo, but the fresh ones are greenish and ribbony and crisp, and the older ones soft and flowing, like blonde hair.

first harvest of the year. these babies are taller than me the pace will pick up in the autumn (i think they process better after they’ve fully set seed & had a chance to dry out a bit), but the weather this week looks great for retting & i felt like a bit of hedge-bothering #nettlesfortextiles
Trying a support spindle instead of a drop spindle, practicing on flax but I suspect I’ll prefer it for nettle as well.
