I'm not saying that these ratings aren't important and don't mean anything - they do, and it is important to remember them. But this is pretty incomplete showing, given that we also know Landman, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and The Pitt are all averaging over 10 million viewers per episode

What is more likely, that no one did it, or that no one of actual influence and power gave a shit about the work those people did?

I guess I'm the one Spurs fan who thinks today's UCL match doesn't matter at all, and who only hopes they don't try too hard and no one gets hurt.

A campaign poster with large text reading "Mayor Mamdani" and a message urging to fund NYC public libraries at 0.5% of the city budget. Two photos of a man in a suit (Zohran Mamdani are shown, with a website link for more information.
You can let the Mayor know what you think about him breaking his promise. www.nyc.gov/mayors-offic...

I don't know if I agree with that? I'm not going to attempt to speak for him. But I think he's always held a nuanced view about it. He created the show with a former Baltimore homicide detective of course

It's impressive (not complimentary) how disconnected ownership is from actually concerning themselves with the value of their assets, from those worth tens of millions to literal billions.

I personally think that the odds that Iran will choose to cease hostilities just because the war is turning out so poorly for their adversaries that they intend to claim victory and run to be somewhat less than Wall Street does, but I'm just a dumbass poster what do I know?

It was going on one, two in the morning, and we were shooting what I felt was an important scene for me, when he makes an attempt to be quote-unquote straight, in a suit, and at the end of it he gets emotional and locks himself in the other room. And I felt like, Iβm not getting what I wantβIβm not happy with it. Mike was happy with it. He called me the next day and said, βI know you werenβt happy with the scene last night. Believe me, we wouldnβt have gone home if I had felt we werenβt getting it.β And then he sort of became my psychiatrist and said, βYou find it difficult to be happy, donβt you? You find it difficult to enjoy things.β And I said, βWell, sometimes. Last night was about feeling too tired and not feeling I was reaching what I needed to reach for the scene.β He talked to me then about when he was making, I donβt know whether it was Virginia Woolf or The Graduate. He said, βI didnβt enjoy it for a second. I was worried about so many things.β And then he said, βYou know, this is never going to happen again quite this way. You should try to allow yourself to enjoy this more. Take a minute a day, and then add a minute the next day, and another minute. Pretty soon, youβll have hours of happiness.β
The Birdcage opened thirty years ago today, so in its honor, I want to share one of my favorite stories about Mike Nichols that didn't make it into my biography. This is from an interview I did with Nathan Lane.

Collage by Enzo Camacho and Amy Lien, Whitney Biennial 2026
But you can sense the curators searching for a theme to render coherent American art in 2026. They don't find one that makes sense, but that reflects the America outside the gallery: what is the version of this idea that makes sense in this time?

Enzo Camacho and Amy Lien's collages are big winners, scoring on all fronts
Jasmin Sian's wreathes as well
The Biennial sounds like a Chris Nolan movie, the sounds of the video installations like going to a museum in Tenet.
Overall, a strong entry in the history of the Biennial aesthetically

Kamrooz Aram at the Whitney Biennial 2026
Akira Ikezoe with some of the most successful so far, Bosch for the end times that could come
Mao Ishikawa with a series of moving engaging photos I would like maybe more at a smaller scale
Kamrooz Aram the star of the show so far, haunting and here you do see craft and such beautiful deep color
