I know itβs temporary but here in upstate NY itβs going be in the high 60s for two days with blue skies. Itβs melting all the snow. The birds are singing. Itβs as wonderful as escaping to a warmer climate for a few days in March just when I canβt take it any more.

Young white tailed deer on the front porch of my house looking at the camera
Throwback to Valentineβs day 2019 when a neighbor sent me this photo of my front porch. Best Valentine ever! But when I say the deer around here are bold, this is why.

The final piece
As an #embroidery artist I complete 10-12 pieces/yr. After 2 years, I had a bag of short threads and had this idea. It has taken probably 60+ hours but I finished and framed it today. The βthreads in the web of lifeβ concept is a core aspect of my beliefs and as a gardener I love how it came out! π±

The start of the bird cage planter project
Going to try winter sowing this year
Cleaning the threads on this soon to be revealed floral hand embroidery
Enjoying a fuchsia blossom, growing on a cutting from last summers plant
Letβs talk winter resilience, gardeners! Iβm just so βοΈ powered, I may even be a plant π± Iβm working on 2 articles about how I survive the dark: 1, a frigid day spent immersed in what fires up inner sunshine and 2, the process of creating a bird cage planting. Follow me to read both when available!

I almost canβt believe this is real. With all the incredulous AI flower content flying around online (bright blue dahlias!) I first thought it had to be fake but then I saw who was posting it, and the trademarked name! This might be the most extraordinary rose Iβve ever seen.
